for vista it would be the clipboard if it follows Microsoft standards. If you are totally out of luck and do a ton of screenshots, SnagIt is the best program in the world.

It's quite possible. You have to check if the computer will support the upgrade for starters (you may have it maxed out with equal or larger RAM sticks as is). I don't think manufacturers do this anymore, but it used to be that some motherboards had a cap on how much RAM could be added as well.

This is a fairly easy question you can take to the Genius Bar and get a free answer.

Note there's two other things worth mentioning
    1. Your computer might be heavily fragmented, the hard drive is really full, or you have a bunch of bloaty programs running. If you have a full drive, delete some stuff; if you are running lots of programs try closing them or even try restarting the computer.
    2. At some point computers top out on how fast they can go. If you have an older or lower end computer, it may be time to upgrade, as hard drives, graphics cards, and processors also play into a speed consideration.

found a tool for you to try.

Oops, forgot that was you. If the full backup doesn't work you might just go about moving important files individually and move on with life. Really hard, but it soon becomes the only option.

Some would say that you don't need to. In fact, Apple says that it's unnecessary based on how the OS is built to handle file fragmentation, and, "Hard disk capacity is generally much greater now than a few years ago. With more free space available, the file system doesn't need to fill up every "nook and cranny."" However, I don't believe this too much.
Even if they do a good job with file fragmentation, it doesn't sound like they care about disk fragmentation (where the files are stored on the HDD). A heavily fragmented drive is slow because the read head on the HDD has to physically move greater distances. Additionally, bigger hard drives means more area to search.

To do defragmentation and other tasks, read through this article

Ah, sorry that the prog didn't run. I was doubtful it would.

Cleaning up files and defragging is seperate topics. Imagine a vinyl record and you managed to 'erase' the second and 4th song. When you wanted to play the record, you would have to play the first song, then pick up the needle and move it to the third song, etc. It would be much easier if you could somehow push the all the songs together, right? That's what defragmenting does - HDDs are much the same, just that they use magnetic platters.

I should also mention that you only really need defragmenting on a drive that's been regularly kept at max capacity, you won't see as much of a change on near empty drives. Also if you buy a program don't let it do auto defrags, it will really kill performance. From the looks of it, iDefrag is your best choice.

My advice based on what you are doing is this:
    1. Once you get the new HDD in, give it another test to see how pictures load and edit. If it's still going slow toss in the extra ram.
    2. Once you have the new drive in, no need to worry about the defrag unless you are nearing the full mark again or working with really large files continuously.

    I just got it!
Flash is on its way out the door. HTML5 is on its way in. Not right away, it'll still be several years before flash is phased out completely, but as compared to even just a couple years ago, flash is already considerably less popular. It's still a cheap alternative for small companies to make flashy websites, but other than that I don't see much point to keeping it around. HTML5 video is far superior.

Handbrake is what I use, it works the best, a bit confusing maybe at first but all the options you'd want are included.

Handbrake has a PC version I think.

Alright Apple Nerd, need you to solve this.

I want to record Sirius radio on NYE. I used to have a program on my PC that could do this and cannot remember the name. Do you know any OSX programs that will allow you to record streaming internet radio?

    Help.
