    I just got it!

I'll say that it was a mistake to word my opinion/prediction in a way that posed it as a factual argument, because it's not, it's just what I think will happen.

But what you have done, is just annoying. You didn't actually offer your own opinion on the actual matter at hand, you just offered your opinion on me. If you do have a clue about what you're talking about, please, say something, prove it. We're all open to discussion here, but what you've done isn't really creating opportunities for more discussion, if anything it's killing them.

So if you wanna participate in this thread, do so. But do so on the terms that everyone else is.

I am working on some music recording for my friend. We are using garage band right now to do it. We are just adding the beat onto the program and I have him singing into the internal mic. Would I get better sound quality if I bought a microphone, and if so what kind would you suggest? No more then $60.

Whooaaa. Research? I thought this wass the Apple Nerd thread. Every time i go to apple they do research for me! :D

Just kiddin, I just dont know what would be compatible with my mac.

    EDIT:

This one looks pretty good with 5 star reviews on every website. Not a bad price either. I just wanna know if its gonna be a pain in the ass to set-up. I know its just a plug in USB, but there has ought to be a catch.

Thanks to all the MAC experts who are sharing their wisdom, I was very anti-apple until my brother in law forced me to use a MAC book. Now I am hooked much better than PC @ just about everything. Yeah they cost allot more but you get what you pay for, same reason I don't drive a Dodge or a Chevy.

I have a 4 or 5 year old macbook pro, with the removable battery.

The battery only lasts about 50mins of webbrowsing and it says to "service battery"

Has a cycle count of 97 and condition of check battery...

I mostly use it as a desktop... Its only unplugged for about an hour a week.

    Any help?

I have an iMac from 2007. I want to upgrade the hard drive and the RAM. Is this a DIY type job or can apple do it? I have built my own computers and installed the current hard drive and ram in my MBP so I know my way around a computer. From what I have seen though, it looks fairly involved.

    Hey BBiggs,

I don't know if your still helping people with their Mac stuff but I have an older MacBook Pro the silver shiny one, the model just before the brand new one. I am having difficulties uploading videos from my Canon M1033. I have uploaded lots of pictures but I am having some difficulties uploading vids. I have tried using Imovie but I'm a newb and don't have much time to play around with it.

    Thanks in advanced.

    Glad I saw this thread.

I have a mac mini from 2005 (yeah, I know, old)

It has a bunch of crap on it and I want to reformat it because it's slow as hell. After backing up the stuff I want to keep on an external HD, how do I reformat it? I still have the original disc to reformat it. Do I use disk utility?

    Thanks in advanced.

Take the number off the battery. Go to ebay and search for a new one by number.
While buying an apple specific battery is great, it can also be expensive. I replaced both my daughter and wife's batteries in their laptop. Bought both from eBay in Hong Kong. Prices were about a quarter of what I would have paid for an apple battery and shipping was cheaper than buying local. Seems to me I paid about 5 bucks for shipping. I have also bought power supplies for my Mac the same way at less than half what I would have paid for locally. Shipping in all instances took about a week.
One tip. Always check the sellers ratings and the amount of sales they have processed. Most of those sellers are in the thousands with ratings of 99% or better.
    good luck. ken

    Hi,
I have a tough one. Hopin someone can help out.
    I have a 2007 24" iMAC with the dual 2.1 intel chips.
I dual boot OSX and Vista ultimate with bootcamp. I want to start with another fresh install of OSX and dualboot with win7, again with bootcamp.
The problem that I am having may be related to the fact that my ribbon cable for the superdrive is broke and I use an external usb dvd burner. It recognizes everything that I put in it in vista ultimate but not OSX.
So.... When i'm in OSX and go to the utility that shows the format and erase stuff, the Vista portion is greyed out. It shows "232 gig hdd, then underneath it shows the 2 partitions with OSX on one and Vista on the other, However when I click on the "232 gig" the option for erase is greyed out. I tried putting my techtool cd in and OSX doesnt recognize it. For that matter vista doesnt either.
How do I wipe this entire drive out and start from scratch?
I do have another 250 and 500 gig drive I could put into it but I have been inside this thing twice and it is a pain in the butt. Thx.

I believe you have to re format it. Install OSX again. Personally I'd leave anything windows related off the Mac. The windows side will get sick and mess up the whole hard drive. Happened to mine. Just my $.02 worth

I understand that I have to format it, that's what i'm trying to do. I have done it several times before and not had a problem. Nor have I ever had a problem with running 3 versions of windows and linux along side the osx. Everyone always played nice together.
Somehow I manage to delete the osx portion of the hdd. Finally got it re enstalled on the right partition and now when I try and format the entire 250 gig hdd, it's greyed out under that option.

For any of you Mac nerds on here... I'm going to pick up an iMac G5 from a co-worker for $50. Not going to use it for any hardcore stuff. Maybe just surfing the net or playing Pandora on it.

    Good or bad?
