I am not trying to convince any one of any thing. You are convinced that you don't need an AR, I'm okay with that. You are convinced you could take out 6 armed men with only using a few hand guns. I would say I am not trained enough and I know my ability with a hand gun. I'm good with it at 25 feet agents a paper target that lets me reload. I don't think I could take down 6 live targets with in 25 feet. I'm not Rambo. I would say my AK would not even put me even with 6 attackers.. But it will give me a damn good chance.

Your argument is this just backward. Forcing some one who is anti gun to own a gun. I'd like to see that legislation roll through... Your 16 here is your gun.. You must have it at all times.

Negative, that was the main weapon used inside the building.

Regardless of whether or not they should be banned, as others mentioned, it all comes down to people WANTING them. I just wish people would be honest in the argument and just say "I don't support an assault weapons ban because I WANT an AR." Which is fine. I'm just tired of hearing lots of people trying to make the connection between having an AR (or similar) and their right to bear arms. Even if they would ban them (again), I don't see how still being able to own any other number of handguns, shotguns, rifles, etc infringes on your rights. It has not much of anything to do with protecting your rights, just protecting their wants. And there's a big difference there. I mean from the mid 90's to 2004 was everyone constantly claiming they had no 2nd amendment rights during the 1st ban?

I agree with you. I have been though your basic training, walk through target shooting and such. A course offed by one of my local ranges. But I have not where near tactical training. I don't think many people here have been other than the police and the armed forces. For those that have I commend you.

personally not much use for a high capacity mag or assault rifle, because I would want the first shot to count. cant say much if you had a chance to protect others out in public, just because the laws protect the criminals.

If a ban does come back, it needs to be called what it is, a "Gun Ban", ARs and AKs just look like full auto assault rifles, but a semi auto rifle is not a assault rifle, it is just a semi auto rifle.

Assault Rifle = Select Fire with a Full Auto or 3-Rund Burst Function i.e. M-16, M-4, M-14, which are controlled by the 1986 NFA Machine Gun Act, and cost a lot more than a AR-15 at Walmart.

    Semi-Autp Rifle = AR-15, M1-A, etc.

The assault rifle term is just scary and used to scare folks into agreeing with banning guns.

I fear this is coming, and it will suck, and likely wont solve any problems, just make parts and guns harder to get. And put some hard working Americans out of business along with some small businesses.

Cant say much about hi-cap mags, they are nice to have, and the criminals will always have them, but having a 100 rnd mag for an AR or AK doesn't have a real civilian need, but I do want them...

There are a lot of sports that use the so called semi-auto assault rifles, and millions of Americans that enjoy them safely, this will punish the country for the actions of a few crazy folks. We have a people problem, not a gun problem. Everyone isnt a winner, everyone has faults, and the next thing we are going to do is start banning cars, baseball bats, and anything else that could be turned into a weapon...

This is a great response, stronger laws to punish those that use guns or any other weapons to commit crimes!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srd-QZXBfZI
and maybe a pistol, but c'mon man.....Who needs assault weapons? Really? You would need some pretty effing good aim! Those are some small bullets with 0 spread.

Have you ever shot A Handgun? It's hard to get A good grouping past 25 feet at range, and that's in A controlled environment.
Remember the North Hollywood shootout? The cops were only armed with shotguns and pistols and they were being outgunned against two guys with AKs.

sooo, you buy it because you can? not based on how effective it is? That sounds pretty smart to me:rolleyes:
And the second amendment, based on my limited knowledge on the subject, was made around the civil war....when you needed protection from the big bad north...
Actually it was adopted on December 15, 1791. I'd like to think things are a bit more civilized now. Thank you wikipedia!

An average American Citizen can't own Automatic weapons without an extensive background check and A Tax stamp, that's before you shuffle out 5 figures to buy one.

What I have and dont have has nothing to do with this. The 2nd Amendment is to protect us Americans. It has been argued that it was meant to protect us from our Govt, Absolute power corrupts absolutly. Recently it has been said by the court that it is our right to protect ourselve. If you want to rely on someone else for your safety good luck but our fore fathers said we dont have to. As far as auto weapons, educate yourself because because most people dont have them nor need them

I think it is obnoxious for others to chime in on our country and laws. I am not and will not voice my opinion on your laws and how your citizens are treated. I love this country, served this country and will fight for my rights.

That's a different subject, you guys don't have a 4:20th amendment that was written while George Washinton was high on crack saying that its ok to do sell and do drugs ...
