I can't let the wife know
Bilstein 6112, I'm trying to assemble them. I went to Pep boys and rented the compression tool. Had no problem when I assembled my 5100, but the tool doesn't work with the 6112 because they are too wide. The part of tool that holds the spring hits the shock and prevents it from sliding in. Called 4 wheel parts and got quoted $180 :O. I'm sure I can buy the tool for that much, just which tool do I need?

Its best to use a wall mounted spring compressor. These tools go for anywhere between 400-1200$ depending on brand and quality. I am sure that 180 you were quoted was to remove the strut, build the 6112's and re install them back on to the truck. If you were to bring the parts somewhere, it should take less than an hour to disassemble the shock you have and reassemble the top plate onto the 6112.
