Correct, that vehicle has DV (Disabled Veteran) plates. That does NOT mean you get to park in Handicapped spots. I know because I am a disabled veteran. You're making what's called an assumption about what could be occurring in the picture. Each state has different rules regarding the use of DV plates verses Handicapped. For Veterans, there are license plates available with the International Symbol of Access. The rules regarding these license plates vary from state to state, so researching the requirements of your particular state is essential. In the state of Colorado, for example, you must have a disability rating from the Veteran's Administration of at least 50% in order to obtain a Disabled Veteran license plate through the Motor Vehicle Department. In order to obtain a Disabled Veteran plate in any state, you must have a specific form filled out from you physician through the Veteran's Administration.

I was making an assumption based on the picture and how I would park my vehicle. In the state I’m in, a disabled veteran plate allows you to park in handicap spaces. Now with that said, you’re response warrants a, get fucked. Or a go fuck yourself. I can’t decide which response I like more, so I’ll leave them both out there.

Almost pulled in behind the Nissan until I realized I'd be blocking him in. He was wrong to pull through so far too but I didn't want to be a complete ass since the other car was the real problem

Depends on the state. In the state of Texas, veterans with DV plates may park in a handicapped spot, no international symbol plates required. This doesn’t apply on federal property, where the international symbol must be displayed on the plate or a placard.

I am pretty sure that in every state you are expected to park within the lines.

Also pretty sure that on TW we’re all expected to not be dicks.

    50% service connection is all?!

Probably has sleep apnea with cpap and a donut obsession. :)

MN requires 100% P&T service connection to get the disabled vet plate, but you still need to display the international symbol for diasabled parking spots.

:) You came off as An a**hole so I decided to come off as one.

You also had no reason other than being a pompous dick for that response, other than trying to be “right” or show your “knowledge”.

Please go back and read my post. There was nothing but facts in it. I'm now going to put on my teach/coach/mentor hat (not pompous dick). I see that you were (or are) in the US Army. Have you ever attended any NCO/Officer PME? I'm sure that if you have, it taught you to be factual, honest, and professional in your briefings and reports. True? So lets set a scenario that will hopefully assist us all in garnering the skills necessary to understand communication.

The scene is a Command Post where the Commanding Officer (CO) is being briefed by G-3 Air on an upcoming exercise. The CO is provided information (from a CPT not in the Command Post) via a power point that details the proposed Landing Zone (LZ) for an operation. The CO reviews the slide with the LZ information and notices that the proposed LZ appears too small to support all the helicopters. He tells the CPT that he "thinks" the LZ will not work.

Unknown to the CO, the CPT was a prior Warrant Officer III with over 3000 hours flight time in various rotary wing aircraft. This CPT had used flight planning software known as Falconview etc and imagery derived from the National Geospatial Agency (NGA) to review, research, and choose that LZ. He knows that four UH-60s will fit and have enough room to maneuver while landing and taking off, because he personally has done it hundreds of times.

The CPT advises the CO that the proposed LZ is within Army Aviation guidelines and provides the relevant extracts.... and it sounds something like this:

"Sir, I understand that you had questioned the ability of our helicopters to safely land/takeoff from the proposed LZ in Kandahar. Field Manual (FM) 3-21, Pathfinder Operations, Chapter 4 and unit SOPs advise that we have enough room to conduct HLZ operations. I have provided a slide that details the minimum requirements set forth by the Army, and an overlay slide that depicts the proposed LZ. I've also provided an alternate LZ, however it is more than 15 kilometers away from the objective."

Antman, does the above CPT sound like an asshole? He provided factual information to the CO. Or is he an asshole for knowing the factual information, being an expert and professional, then giving that information to the CO?

What I'm attempting to advise is that just because a TW member provides information, does not make them an asshole. We see it all the time on this forum. Members post some information on Subject A. Then another member posts his "thoughts" on that information. Then along comes a member that has real-world experience in Subject A, and then someone gets butt-hurt because facts have been provided. Is this the crux of what is going on here? Yes, I did show my knowledge, because I know about that subject.

What have we hopefully learned today? The world is full of people from varying backgrounds, just like TW. I personally come here because of all the expertise on Tacos. Half the stuff here I'll never do to my Taco, but I respect the knowledge and skills of those that have tried/experimented with Subjects A through Z. We should embrace the members and their abilities to uniquely solve and improve Toyota designs.

Capt America: If you want me to provide a USAF example using any AFSC, I can do that (not being and asshole -- just trying to educate).

Maybe the trailer door lets down and if he went back any further it would have hit his garage door so he couldn't get his stuff in and out of the trailer? Does he do it everyday or every now and then?

@SigSense posted an asshole parking job

@AntMan408 posted maybe he just parked a little further away to get out and there were no DV spaces, not really justifying the parking job

@SigSense responded with an asshole comment that had nothing to do with what was said in @AntMan408 's post, then proceeded to reply with a TL;DR comment

    ugh

Dude, all I’m going to say is that I’m a retired MSgt and disabled vet, this is a thread about people who park badly, and this rant doesn’t paint you in the best light. Best to drop it and move on because you’re not doing yourself any favors.

I enjoy this thread and have a disinclination to see it derailed. So I googled “asshole parking.” And these are the results.
