    It certainly is in the minds of some portion of the population.

    It'd be naïve not to recognize that unfortunate fact of life, and that parking in such a manner increases the chances of incurring damage from such a person -- even when we ourselves would never do so.

    I see no basis to equate @Rottencotton's observation with approving of it. Do you?

    I don't condone nor practice such an attitude but know a lot of people do. Especially lowlifes like druggies, drunks, etc. They are out there and you can't avoid them. You can however minimize the chances of being a victim by parking properly.
