Should've unscrewed his ball and tossed it. He wouldn't leave all that mess out there again after that. With that said I'm sure my swingout spare tire pisses off people when it's hanging out over the sidewalk lol

Ignorant, I’ll never understand people that leave them in, I’d hit it every day.

plus it will seize in if you’re in a rust area

i think that's a citation. ADA law should allow minimum 36" path for wheelchair users to pass by

Definitely ought to be, plus it wouldn't break my heart to see it towed for that reason

He should probably take the ball mount out of the hitch but I suspect if he was farther forward, he'd be blocking the driving lane.

I would have taken off the whole hitch assembly and tossed it in the bed with out the locking hitch pin if it didn't have a lock on it.

It is also supposed to be a CA State law that you can't leave trailer hitch balls in the hitch like that unless you are about to hookup a trailer. I doubt anyone ever gets cited for it, though.

I back in to all my parking spots up as far as my camera says it's safe to.

I also never have a receiver installed unless I'm actually in the act of towing because I'm not rude that way.

We have a guy here at work with a 3-way receiver that sticks out over 12" on an F-250...and he pulls into all his spots leaving that can-opener hanging out into the travel lane.

you ought to tie some fishing line on it with some cans so he tows them when he drives away.

If it was a Dodge I would say they were just too tired to push it any further.

At least the swing out is large enough to catch the eye, that draw bar is low enough to be stealthy, many people won't see it until it connects with their shin.

I'm no advocate of theft -- that said, if that came up missing I wouldn't feel sorry for the guy.

It’s unspoken, but if you drive a pickup in ca, you don’t get pulled over. You just get a nod. Minivans, always get pulled over, bmw and teslas too.

o_O:rofl:Well, maybe. In some areas...... and maybe just for trailer hitches situations.

Over the last 40 years, I have been pulled over by CHP but not cited, in my 1980 Hilux up in Chico in the late 80's; given a Nod by a CHP officer whilst going down highway 99 at a good bit over the speed limit in my 2001 Dodge Cummins; and given a speeding ticket by CHP in the early 2000's near my home in Placerville for doing well over the limit in the same Dodge Cummins, in around the mid 2000's.

I've never owned a minivan, BMW or Tesla :crapstorm:

Raises hand* i will have to say that i towed a small UHaul trailer about 4 months ago, and took my hitch out of the receiver.

then i was moving some stuff in in the bed (and i put my hitch back in the receiver for bed space). then i decided to leave it in because for some weird reason, I felt like it gave me more truck cred than just being a mall crawler.

Drove with it sticking out for about a month and then I decided i should take it before i back it into someone's bumper. and before i took out my own shin.
