I’d definitely not be looking at the pro, from what I’ve read and learned, the 10-12k extra you spend on the pro could just be used for parts and you’d still come out on top financially. I’m in a similar boat, lots of snow/ice where I live. I take my dog out often and some of the roads are kind of shitty and I’ll be towing for firewood during the summers. I opted for the off road just because I liked the way it looked better. I think either the sport or off road would work for both of our needs though. They are similarly priced, I’ll probably use the locker a couple times a year max, but I think it comes down to your personal preference.

I spent money on nice tires but the rest of my rigs gonna stay pretty much stock since it’s going to be capable enough for my needs.

I have the sport long bed and live in Canada and love it. Good on and off road vehicle with luxury and comfort. You can't go wrong but that is up to you to decide what you want. Did I mention the Scoop is a panties dropper.:thumbsup:

They seem like nice vehicles but my experience in the past with any Dodge Chrysler Jeep Fiat has been pretty poor both in longevity and reliability and as a company in general.

The few of my friends who have gotten Jeeps seems like they spend just as much time waiting on critical parts as they do driving them.

One friend got stranded due to a plastic spherical rod end for the 4WD shifter.

Seriously a tiny nylon spherical for a *SHIFTER*?

Just makes me concerned about where else Jeep cheaped out.

Another buddy right now is so pissed at their Cherokee they're getting a Tundra.

Don't get me wrong I've got my own little gripes with Toyota here and there but I've never been stranded with a Toyota only temporarily inconvenienced.

After owning the xjs and yjs, I would be hard pressed to own one... Electrical was complete trash (even my Cummins trucks had bad electrical) , then, tcases, axles are so small that a good swap is bronco 2 axles... I definitely have gripes about Toyotas but nothing even close to mine with jeeps.

My main gripe with Toyota is that the interiors seem so cheap. We replaced her sequoia with 760k miles that ran like a top for an Infiniti QX56. That thing is so awesome inside... The bad is I've spent 10k in repairs on it (of course). We looked at land cruisers to replace the Infiniti and they're just so cheesy inside after driving that thing... But she values a nice interior over a continually functional vehicle so I'm stuck with the Nissan for now. I'm really hoping these new Sequoias have a nice interior. I really want rid of that thing and I really like the new Sequoia.

Somebody at work got a new Bronco recently, I noticed the axle is a little wider than a Tacoma axle, has rear disc brakes and even has the 139.7 6 lug pattern. Really makes me wonder if it would be a good swap candidate, I believe in my research it's said to be a Dana 40 which is what the Rubicon Jeeps come with factory I believe?

    Hmmm.

I believe the Rubicon has a 44? I know Ford has a different bolt pattern on trucks. Are you sure the bolt pattern is the same? My older Tacomas and 4runners, I bolted a Ford 9 inch directly into place and had machine shops weld and drill the axles out to the right pattern and build yokes. The 67-72 Ford is the same width as the 1st Gen tacomas and 3 Gen 4runners. After going through 7 stock 4 cylinder rears and 3 elockers, something had to be done

Looks right and according to a quick google search it's the same, dunno about the hub bore though.

Not sure what the difference between a Dana 40 and a 44 is.

And holy hell why you go through so many rears!?

Because my 2.7 tacoma with 5 inches of lift and 35s did a hell of a burnout . I could dump the clutch and turn the wheel and the front tire would stay in the same spot and just burn tires until I stopped. I lived around a lot of people with Chevy V8s that couldnt burn a tire or beat me on the drag strip but still wanted to run their mouths about my Toyota. Had to shut em down! The good old days

    Nice! 5.29 gears?

What rear (and front?) Did you end up with to handle the shenanigans?

I had 4:11s factory, when I put the 9 inch in, I went to 5:29s. I still have the ifs man. I blew up one of the elockers one day, so I locked in the front hubs and drove into town with the front end. On the way the rear exploded and took out both cv axles, so... I bought some from Napa and built the rear again but I went ahead and bought a front axle out of a 79 pickup and built the everliving hell out of it with everything marlin crawler and Yukon could offer :rofl:so that when I broke the cv axles again I could just swap it in. I beat on those axles so hard but never had a single problem... Napa sells some badass cv axles lol. Still ifs in that truck unfortunately. But I've been driving that truck for 22 years. My daughter is almost 16 and wants it... I'm proud that she wants it but also scared to death lol

SR5 is way more than enough for the activities you'll be doing imo. Could spend the extra 5gs for good tires and lift and more.
