I am curious to know many Habitat owners regularly have four bodies in the tent? The interior access would be covered and exterior means would be required for early risers or midnight potty breaks - well, to prevent disturbing others sleeping. Is anyone using a telescoping ladder on the outside? Sorry if this was mentioned previously, I haven't read every page of this thread yet.

99% of my camping is 4 people. Kids on the bed because they go to bed earlier. Wife and I on platforms and air mattresses. We have a telescopic ladder but it’s not really needed at this point.

That looks pretty awesome to go with the Habitat. But I would never give up my Awning Room :)

Thanks for the response. My wife is hesitates at giving up the bed! Our kids are 3 and 7 and have most of the access covered to prevent the little one from going down. We're heading out tomorrow for an extended weekend trip and will experiment some more.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

That looks interesting - how would those mount on a Habitat?

AT makes an awning mount. Otherwise a few others have made their own, I think @YF_Ryan and @excorcist both did.

I ordered one from South Africa-was all excited to get it..threw it on my Ford e-350..looked bitchen...I went for a surf..wind came up-in pieces..NOT GOOD.By design-they DO NOT work in the wind.

Did you have the proper guy lines? Nothing is 100% impervious to wind, but obviously guying it properly would help.

Yep..im a Baja guy..and the manufacturer-nameless- boasted..it can take 30 knots of wind..I kite surf too-so i was doubtful..in about 18 knots-the thing got tweaked big time..Just not designed for cross friction-period...perfect for shade on light to no wind days..otherwise...-once again-my opinion and experience.

Much appreciated! I kinda want to do this. I think it would help stiffen things up a bit, and spread the load a little in wind. But maybe not? what do you think?

I think it would be worth trying out. Mine has been quite stable in the wind. It would definitely keep the poles from moving as much and add some extra support

Really goes to show how many little continuous improvements have been made in the few years they've been building them.
