Im using Progressive. I have all of my receipts, but I just have a flat number to include all of the accessories. I have coverage for $35k. I pay $65 per month for that. They will give me 35k no questions (after I pay my deductible which is 1k). My 2nd gen has 110k miles on it. No speeding tickets recently, and have a daily driver and a motorcycle bundled.

Ill have to look into that. I didnt know that you have the option of picking your vehicles value. Geico asked for a list of mods, does Progressive question why the value is almost double?

When i changed the value from the website to more than $10k, they said I needed to speak to someone. I just explained that i had alot of accessories on the truck. I told them I have most receipts, but they assured me that if I were to get in an accident, the insured value is what Id get

Farm Bureau. They asked prices on everything. Bumpers, suspension, habitat, wheels etc

Closing out the height discussion: Clearance under the awning (deployed bed) is about 75" (6'3") on Gen 2/3 Tacoma with 33" tires and 2" lift. Thanks for your measurements! It was also pointed out that unlevel ground could reduce this clearance. I also sent a message to AT because their promotional post on Expedition Portal said 81" from the ground. Janine says "I think with a Tacoma and a Habitat with a 2”-3” lift you are going to be right around 6’3”. We have one here and that’s exactly what it measures to. I think you would either have to do a bigger lift or purchase a taller truck lol."

Since winter is nearing (at least for us folk in the northern regions) lets talk heaters and keeping warm. How many of you winter camp and whats your method for staying warm?

I have camped in -7 degrees... i stay warm with a 0 degree down sleeping bag and a beanie. I may add a pendleton wool blanket this year. I have found the major issue not to be staying warm but folding the habitat up when it is frozen.

The never ending question that I’m still trying to figure out. So far I have a Propex heater in a box, but still struggling with how to insulate with light thermal blankets/materials. Since moving back to the east coast, cold is a major issue. I thought I would have time to experiment with insulation this fall, but time got away from me - hoping to hear what other creative solutions habitat owners have tried.

You are a brave brave man. You dont have any other source of heat like a Lil Buddy or something similar?

Ive been eyeballing those chinese diesel heaters. The only downfall would be cutting holes in the bed for an exhaust or intake if I permanently mounted it. Im using an ATO Atlas model and that solid roof may help with insulation. Im trying to stay away from propane heat because of the moisture release but I just may have to work past this season until I can steal one of your guys' better ideas!

Nope just a beanie and my bag. A quality down bag, wool socks, and a Nalgene with boiling water will never fail you. In my opinion, habitats are that they have too much volume and not enough insulation to effectively heat.

Sounds like youve had your fair share of time in a ground tent.
