When is the expected completion date for you? Looks good! I jealous I just put my deposit a couple days ago. Now the waiting game for me. Have already decided to switch out the factory mattress for a custom made one.

I ordered mine back in May, and it was delivered to the shop doing my install yesterday. So it was a 6 month wait at the time I ordered it. The shop is doing other work on my Tacoma, and I will pick it up next Thursday. I'm stoked!

A ridiculous amount of stuff! I'm getting Deaver leaf springs, adjustable Kings, 17 inch BFG tires, Method wheels, RCI rock sliders and skid plates, Tacoma Beast Highline bumper, Warn winch, and ARB air compressor.

I retire in 3 weeks, and I'm hitting the road!

Damn. That’s a ton of stuff. And congratulations!! How long are you on the road for? And what are a couple must see places for you on the retirement road trip?

Retirement is December 31st, and I'll hit the road on January 3rd. I sold the house last year, and I am just planning to backpack and explore around the western US, Canada, and Alaska in the warm seasons, and backpack and cave in the south-east in the winter. And I just plan to do that until it gets old. Hopefully, that will take a few years! My first big backpacking trip will be a month in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska this summer. If that doesn't kill me, then the sky is the limit after that.

You should start a build/adventure thread!! All that sounds amazing. Would love to see pics of all your gear your using for backpacking and living on the road. I’m a gear head. Haha.

Try to keep the truck in relatively decent condition. There's a chance that Toyota might come out w/ a Tacoma Hybrid too. In that situation, you'll be able to have some even more epic adventures with the increased trail range!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

That color-matched top looks great! I've got the same color/configuration taco(except mine is an SR) and it's the best 'dimensions shot' I've seen. Most pics are of double cab/short bed.

I don't mind the cabover length as I know it will offer more room IN the actual camper with the bed down. Have a fun adventure in your retirement!

A friend asked me yesterday if wind noise would be a problem when driving. I was like, huh, I don't know...I hadn't thought about it. I haven't heard anyone complain about it, though.

Yeah, let us know your thoughts on that- I'm a little curious myself...

Anyways, I'm usually jammin' the radio pretty high so maybe it won't be an issue for me :rockband:

I know there is a company in Colorado that makes custom wind fairing. I plan on going this route when I get my topper on my truck. You can either use Yakima or Thule towers & cross bars.

Colorado Fairing Company. They have some pretty cool designs to print on the fairing.

I don't know what to mount one to. I don't think there's any room on the cab for even a single cross bar.

Here's what the shop just told me about wind noise:

To be honest I have a lot of people ask about it but not really any complaints after the install as it just usually isn't a big enough issue. There will be a little but not worth the cost of having a custom fairing made.

For sny of you with a summit, Mario had posted this on facebook:

Hello group! This is a very last minute request but is there anyone here with a Summit topper who could join us for a photo shoot with Traeger Grills near the Four Peaks Wilderness area outside of Fort McDowell AZ this Sunday 12/12? We had a SEMA show truck lined up for this but a last minute glitch dashed that plan. We are camping tonight so that we can catch first light Sunday AM. The images will be used in Traeger and AT advertising in 2022. If you are available, please PM me for details. You'll earn huge karma points and a secret surprise
