I can sorta picture it, photos of the area inside out with some ms-paint might help w/ illustration. But yeah, you're talking about the the reinforced section that the clamshell closes on but not the side walls. But my main recommendation would be to reinforce with stainless plate on both front and back and then use a bolt.

But I think since that section isn't covered by the honeycomb, you should be fine in wrenching down a bolt with some fender washers.

Do you have a locking closure for the lid on both sides or just the passenger? Mine is on just the driver side.

Wish I had the other side too. May have to do that. It takes some strain off the rubber hold downs.

Martin told me to not have tension on the latch when you are all closed up. It's a safety catch, lock, and a litmus test to ensure the tent was properly collapsed and noting is pinched in the seals.... according to them.

...agree that Martyn said that to me as well. the two pieces move around during travel, so the rubber latches act more as shock absorber when traveling, probably stress the metal latch way more if tensioned, than with just the rubber latch

..a while back I asked Martyn about my fear of a very cold rubber latch (below freezing ambient) breaking during the early morning closure. He said those rubber latches had a completely adequate Temp/use range for our needs. I do use one of those Irwin clamps to completely close the lid before placing the rubber ball in its bucket. keep meaning to buy a second clamp to gently close both sides. despite what Martyn said, I don't completely trust pulling too hard on those rubber handles.

    Another lesson learned.

When opening the hab, use both rods to push it over. Once in the almost deployed position, pop half the support rod off and attach to the shell side ball. Holding that support in one hand reach/jump up and pull the bed platform down. While holding, put the other end of the on the bed platform side.

Trying to hook the support to the side of the camper shell was frustrating.

I do something similar I first connect 1 rod to shell and let hang to ground trk protected with pipe insulation not to scratch truck and ease contact when I bang into it with my head, on the other side i use pole to push open deploy tent then go back to first side and with one hand holding pole and with free hand i pull tent base down and connect to shell I then go back to the side I used to deploy tent and connect pole to shell sometimes I dissconnect from tent and connect to shell and reconnect to tent on that side if its giving me trouble. hope thats not to confussing,, in the end whatever works for you. paint stick does wonders for pushing in tent when closing and tryin to get all of it up under the lip of the shell...

Yes, I pulled out all six bed bolts, drilled holes and re bolted it. As far as weight I would have to guess, and my guess would be about 50lbs.

Anyone had this happen? Second time opening the Habitat and we noticed this. Sent an email with the pics to Paul over at Equipt to see if he had any suggestions or could help us out. If he can't help, any suggestions from you guys on replacement parts? Kinda bummed over here :( haven't even had a chance to sleep in it yet.

Yeah, I'll give Equipt today to respond before I reach out to AT directly. Luckily I have nearly two weeks til our first planned trip.
