Here is some randomness. if you were to cut it in half, it would look something like the picture below. Lots of work to do on these hybrids w/ a ring, but they really are cool pieces in the end.

This is how you get the bling of SS at the weight of roughly 534g (sans collar). Solid stainless weighs 850g, for reference.

    Yup.

I was once asked to drill out aluminum and fill it with lead and epoxy to add weight. Yeah-nah, this is more how I operate.

What size is the Allen stud on the collar?

I assume order of install is:
    1) remove stock collar, install your fancy sexy one
    2) thread on core
    3) affix collar to core
    4) thread on knob to core
    5) drink beers

It is a 3/32" allen key for the collar. Here is the actual part info, for reference just to give you the warm fuzzies knowing you will get it on the first crack.

No need to take the core out for the collar to line up or anything like that. Just replace the collar in the boot, screw the knob on ... set the collar and done. No shims for you, but I put a zero plug down the bottom anyway.

And if one were to actually cut one in half, this is precisely what they look like lol

Almost, I can't machine out the undercut when adding the delrin ring ... need that meat for the dowel pins to seat.

Yeah, sucks for the other guy too though.

I hope that humbled him to a more appropriate perception of his own abilities to take charge of a project. Dunning/Kruger, FTL.

Phenomenal build quality. Here's mine. M/T, SS, Aluminum bezel, Delrin ring. I'm going to try and add some color to the engravings later tonight. I'll check in and show you guys how it turns out. You could easily kill 50 birds with one Trail Breaker shift knob. Nice and heavy.

I installed mine almost 2 months ago and every time I get in my truck I admire this piece of art! I ordered mine with a black delrin ring to replace the chrome ring on the shift boot- super happy with going that route!

@7r41lbr34k3r.. my offer still stands to buy the first round of beer if you’re still planning on coming out to Colorado.

Color applied to the engravings. I think I like it. It will probably rub off eventually but the best part is I can fix or change the color in a jiffy.

Noice. What about a thin coat of nail hardener on top. Easy to apply and mop up mess

I actually did that first, but I didn't like the way it looked or felt when it was dry. It took away from the machined finish. This way with out the nail polish it just looks like the color is part of the knob. Touch ups are just a crayon scribble and micro fiber towel scrub away.

I don't mean nail polish, colour wise...the shit the chix put on the nails to harden the finish. It's clear. Like a protectant
