save up for proper, i cant make sense of putting SB sliders on an LB if the difference is 100-200 or so. I think you can get SOS boltons for about 580 shipped, bare.

EDIT: looks like a lil over 6 hundo for 3rd gen

Those steps well get wrecked if you off-road/wheel at all with them. Also, you can ruin the cab mounts pretty quickly if you hit a rock the wrong way.

Get some cheap weld-on sliders and go that route. DCLB ones from 4x are $335 with a kickout, pre-shipping. Just rattlecan em and call it a day.

I would go sliders over running boards all day. I had running boards and bent them doing some light trail stuff. My fault completely, but what would have been a scratch on some sliders bent my running board up and into the base of the rocker panel.

Pay the extra $75 for the DCLB version. The great thing about that kit is how versatile it is. You can mount it many different ways depending on the skill of the welder. And plan on 2-4 hours of work for the welding. I paid for 3 hours of labor to my BAMF set welded on and it is more put together than the 4x kit.

You might be able to save some money by getting the no frills versions. No fill plate, no kick outs, and paint them yourself. Look for a local vendor so you don't pay money to ship them to you. Lastly, I would save up and do it right the first time.

Edit: looks like these points were covered above by other members. Good advice.

My wife is short. She is 4'10 so this has always been a issue for me. I had a f150 with a 3in lift with no steps. ya i always had to hear it. Anyways, I need something for my Taco that would project it and let her in. I had the nerf bars but i would take them off everytime i did 4x4ing because i was scared of tearing them off. I ended up doing weld on sliders. They are a little weird feeling when getting in to the truck because they are at the bottom of the door and no hang under. I didn't what to damage the bottom of my truck. So it is what it is. The nerf bars scared me because if you are not careful you can tear them off with the bottom of your truck. Don't think this helped you at all sorry if it didn't but this is my thought on this. I looked for a long time and ended up buying them from 4wheel parts because of a big end of year sale they had.

O and i did not get the plate fill ins and bear metal and just painted it my self. And see spending $200 on powered coating when its going to get hit and scarped. I used bedliner spray and it works great.

Sounds like we were/are in similar boats. I have a local guy to weld them and I can certainly bedline them 4x is only quoting me about $60-70 shipping so even that is ok.

Sounds like the DCLB version of the 4x innovations kit is the best bet for you. If you have space you can paint them yourself off the truck before install or you can paint after by taping up newspaper behind. You'll also want to treat the areas heated up by welding on the frame.

The factory predator steps are great for preventing door dings and kids.

But if you're taller than 5'0", stand on the bar and getting in the truck basically ends in you smacking your neck off the roof lol

    FYI:
Predator steps do not prevent kids, they prevent door dings and they are great for kids lol
