Hello, I have been working with the Torque App developer team and we found that the 2gr-fks outputs an ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate. The range is 0 to 65535. Does anyone know what this means or what the output signifies?

    OBD2 Mode and PID: 22162B
Long name: ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate
    Short name: ATF Degrad
    Min value: 0
    Max value: 65535
    Scale: x1
    Unit: –
    Equation: A*256+B
    OBD Header: 701
    Diag. Start Comm: 1001

Huh...it was my understanding this was only for the 2TR-FE Tacomas.

That equation looks like a clue... maybe time spent above 256 degrees.

Service manual seems to indicate only 2TR-FE. I haven't tried looking for it yet (through torque app, or techstream).

Thanks for the info. I'll test later on my truck

Tech Stream shows this as an output for the 2gr-fks

I didn't drive my truck to work today, so I have not tested, yet

The computer engineer in me knows 0 to 65535 means you're working with a 16 bit unsigned integer. 256 is also a power of 2 and likely has to do with that. The chemical engineer in me knows that the linear fit is likely empirical and probably has to do with a combination of some log of time and temperature.

That's really cool they consider that because I knew the idiots telling me lifetime oil this and don't have to replace that are definitely wrong.

I have a '12 GX 460 (1UR-FE) but see this option show up in the '14 GX 460 FSM. There is an option in TS to perform the estimate reset but I also don't see the data list item for the thermal degradation either. I plugged in custom PID above but I get -257. An owner of a '16 GX 460 told me that with OBD Fusion for IOS they are seeing it. I tried it as well on mine so might be something that was implement on '14+ for GX 460s anyway.
