Somebody here has to have put an atlas in. Filthy’s website claims to have a mated adapter for a Tacoma/FJ 23 spline. I emailed them to confirm some shit on Friday, no response yet.

If there’s no adapter for it I’ll probably swap in a r150/ax15 and do it that way.

Anyway has anyone on this site gone gear driven goodness? Don’t come in here with some taco box crap, marlin crawler is unreliable at best and an atlas is way stronger.

There have been a few can't remember off the top of my head who but if you look in the crawl box thread they talk about it. Also on advance adapters website they list the adapter to put an atlas behind the tacoma.

All I could find was an adapter for the 3.4 v6 a340/r150 trans, which isn’t necessarily a problem because I haven’t actually analyzed differences between tcase fitment between 1 and 2 gen. Internals are undoubtably the exact same, bolt patterns and output trans length is the variable. Luckily my brother has a 99 3rz 4wd so at the worst case I can see what fitment is between the 2.

There are a couple 7200 trucks that run a TH400 behind the 4.0 so I know that adapter exists. From the TH400/350 you can run an atlas in any configuriation.

True but advance makes an adapter for our transmission so why add more complication and cost with swapping in a different trans having a standalone TCM and then tuning the stock ECM to ignore all the stock trans inputs and outputs so it doesn't throw any codes.

I just like the idea of a bullet proof 4le mated to an atlas so you can beat the living hell out of it all day long and not think twice. I get it there is a lot of fab and money involved but chances are if you are putting an atlas in a Tacoma you don’t really care about either

I can see that point. It all depends on the individual and how involved they want to get I guess.
