Auto's do it, too, if you're using a light foot and are sensitive to it. It lugs easy, so put your foot in it and give it the beans.

    Yep.

My '16 M/T stuttered from new and now my '19 M/T stutters... hence the "ginger" nickname.

Doesn't matter if it's tuned or stock, doesn't matter what octane I run, doesn't matter where I get my gas, doesn't matter what the weather is doing. Been there done that. Never a code set, never see misfires on techstream. Some trucks do it and some don't (I'm just unlucky I guess).

I've been through a lot of test tunes from the OG (Mat from OVtune) and others.. what I can tell you is SOME calibration files will absolutely make things worse. I've logged evidence of my throttle plate going absolutely batshit crazy on occasion. The one thread that seemingly runs through all this is nobody can definitively say why it happens. Give another guy with the same ECM version the same file and his truck runs great. WTF lol?!

Have you tried cleaning your throttle plate then doing an ecm/tcm reset then reloading the tune?

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, I experience it too when I shift from 1st to 2nd and end up in the 1500-2000 rpm range.
While trying to accelerate it feels like the throttle is pulsating or something. I've found that by taking my foot off the pedal for a split second and then getting back on, it'll accelerate smoothly after that.
    That's my band-aid fix I've been using.

Oh buddy I could talk politics for hours especially nowadays and surrounding ethanol but to summarize and try to keep myself on topic, fuel quality in Usa/Canada sucks. Both diesel and gasoline. Ethanol in everyday gas to "reduce emissions" is probably one of the top 5 cash grab shams of my lifetime. Hands down

I think the throttle plate is the culprit. I've had mine do it, more as it's cold and warming up while driving. After it gets warm it goes away.

My 2017 MT has 94,000kms and has no shudder anywhere in the RPM range. If I lug it down in low RPM it is smooth, just very flat in the torque curve ( very slow acceleration) I keep the RPMs up around 2500 to 3000 when accelerating. The engine is happier there. The only time I experience anything funny is what have experienced since new with the truck, driveline wrap when cold and I shift poorly or too low. When it happens I push in the clutch and give a little more go pedal and get rid of it.

Oh a side note. I just replaced my plugs. They were perfect. No signs of ignition or contamination issues. All were tight.

Have you checked to see if your plugs are tight? There have been reports of plugs being loose from factory.

I have not cleaned my throttle plate.

Not that it's a bad idea (or the least bit hard) but doubtful if it would make a difference since both of my trucks stuttered from brand new, and some calibration files will bring out really bad behaviour while others don't.

I 23 does the same thing. If I run super gasoline it doesn't do it. I had an automatic and I noticed it but not like the MT.

    Right? LOL

Hopefully ol Sheldon was true to his word and put driveability higher on the priority list THIS time around.

If I go for it, I'll finally have that auto-blip.. errr IMT2.

    Don’t be nervous.

I cruise at 1400-1500 RPMs with a very light throttle application. Even goes up slight inclines, no problem whatsoever.

Stock or tuned. Now on 33s with additional weight and still no issues at all.

FWIW, always used 91E0 or higher.

Just want to say how much I agree.

Simple truth is our engines and most on the road do not make power from ethanol. If we wanted ethanol we should put ethanol engines in, not force a mix.

Back on topic the Anderson intake spacer is said to move torque lower in the rpm range. Anybody try that?

I don’t experience any of what you guys are mentioning. I have a 23 Trail Edition / OTT tuned automatic and I run e20 - 25 mix with 93 or about 96 octane. Ethanol has nothing to with this issue, you guys do realize it has a much higher octane rating than gasoline alone, right? Pure e85 is rated as high as 104 octane. Running too much ethanol would potentially cause your fuel pump to crash as it requires more fuel but it actually burns cooler and cleaner than regular fuel. Also, this would rear its head under WOT not partial or light throttle. The reason I run e20 is to maximize timing. This truck loves octane especially with hot IAT’s. I know this because I monitor the knock sensors and timing. It’s very obvious what the engine doing. I will say tip in knock or LSPI is common on this platform but this is sounds like a drivetrain issue in my opinion, not a motor issue.

If running premium fuel is not making any difference I would make sure your transmission is not under or over-filled.

I've had some jerky acceleration, especially when I had a few different tunes. I'm back to stock now and I don't really feel any jerkiness and definitely no actual misfiring. I'd be surprised if there was a true misfiring going and the ECU not reporting any of it.

I will say, down at low rpm I have absolutely 0 power. If I'm putting around my neighborhood alley at 10mph and in 2nd gear, even with a regear the thing just does not want to go. Extremely slow acceleration. But no actual missing, just an occasional jerky acceleration but that mostly happened when tuned. I don't recall the last time it happened on stock.

I have a '23 MT. Runs smooth as butter all day long. By practice, I keep the revs at 2200 and up when on a steady cruz. It will run smoothly at 1800; but the slightest increase in grade will cause the rpm and speed to drop, but even then I wouldn't call it lugging. I have run premium top tier gas since the regular the dealer topped it off with. After about 3 tanks of premium, once the ECU completed it adjustments and advanced the timing as much as it could it became the smooth drive I am now used to. Worth a try in my opinion; but don't expect the change to be felt till you have run through a couple tankfuls.
