Easy fix, leave your headlights on all the time. Your DTRLs aren't on and the headlights turn off when you open the door. Problem solved

Just curious to see what anyone did about theirs if they couldn't get them replaced. I looked around and didn't see the lens for sale separately.

This makes me even happier that I disabled my DRL's. Toyota makes me laff, they have these detail issues in their design, but seemingly do nothing to address them!

to clear things up, it is not every single truck in those years with DRL that will melt its only certain ones, i know a lot on here that have not had that problem and a small few that have had the problem.

mines only a year old but no melted lenses.

Yeah I noticed that too. Not everyone had it but mine definitely does. It's apparent what the problem is though and I don't know why anyone else hasn't figured it out. The bulb isn't the wrong wattage or anything, it's just simply too close to the lens. What sucks is that when it melts the lens actually forms a bubble that gets closer to the bulb compounding the problem.

I know this because the lights are on my table right now.

And if your lights are already bubbled? Got any solutions for that?

My 09 had melted lenses from the DTRL's, my buddy's 08 also had them. It's chronic. The lens inside of the housing will discolor and crack. Both of us had our headlight assemblies replaced at the local dealerships.

I am looking for LED replacements for the DTRL's on my 2012 now so I can avoid this rather than keep taking it back to the dealer for replacement. Anyone got the lamp number or know the LED replacement lamp?

both of you're points answered above, and in the first line he is talking about the LED replacement, how its not just a simple plug and play

the dealer replaced mine 2 weeks ago.....they had them in stock. While they were in there they cut my gas pedal off and throught the floor mats in the bed. They also reprogramed the transmission.

Instead of going LED and not having the same lighting characteristics, you can use a GM-spec 14V bulb equivalent that *should* reduce or eliminate the issue. I've had mine installed for quite some time and have had no melting issues.

I don't have the bulb part number on me, but I've posted it on TW a time or two.

What is the GM spec bulb part number? I put 3057 in mine but its not any different length bulb and not much difference in the watts.

No but ... Add all the other problems, the money and all the time spend at the dealer...

And if you want a list of problems... Well this truck had them all ...bad radio changed twice, bad wheel bearing, squeeky noises, broken leaf, lights, fan, Yoke, and it goes on ...

seems like you've just gotten a bad egg. they are in every batch.
this trucks are solid and 90% of the people do not have major problems with them. no need to talk trash about the truck when its just one of the bad ones.

So to clarify, is it the inner yellow lense that is melting? My 2012 doesn't have inner lenses, just an open housing for the dtrl/blinkers. The bulb is orange.

Or are people talking about the front of the entire headlight housing melting?
