I appreciate it! Careful with the media since the military is involved. They should be directed to the military for a statement and not pull from here.

Edit: I didn’t mean to come off dismissive, being an officer I know the implications and I just want the message communicated in the right way. Thank you so much for all your help. I am so grateful for this community. Please keep praying.

He has an iPhone. Have you tried using find my iPhone to find his phone? Maybe he has an iPad or some other apple device at home that uses the same email where you can check?

They asked me for more info which I didn't have and I left it at that. I was hoping they'd just report "Missing hiker in this area" and people there could go search. I sent you a PM with their contact info if you want to call them and give them what you have.

Shared with a friend in Arizona who is big into hiking -

I work for 911 - law-enforcement can also ask for the last known ping of the phone it might not be super accurate but it might give a place to start, before cell service was lost.

Did SAR give the exact location of where his rental was found? Was it at the same place he last contacted OP?

Can you AZ guys organize a mid-week Tacoma World search in that area? Maybe someone could contact local search and rescue with a volunteer list? Knowing the area would count for a lot.

With it being monsoon season out here in AZ it's possible some afternoon thunderstorms provide him with some additional water. Hoping this has a happy outcome.

    Edit:
Tagging @XPOTRON with border patrol, you aware of this Stefen?

    Hoping for a positive outcome.

SAR does not always want volunteers since they can mess up evidence (footprints, scent trails, etc), are untrained, get in the way, or need rescue themselves.

However, on public land they usually cannot keep a person out of the search area who wishes to search on their own.
