Good evening everyone, so I am planning on installing a CBM-U4 Universal Speaker Audio Interrupt with a TDS15A Transmit Detection Switch from Rogus Innovations. My goal is to get rid of the external speaker that is currently sitting on top of my dash in the center to get rid of clutter and also to have my stereo auto-mute when I receive and transmit on my radio to eliminate background noise during radio calls.

I have done electrical work on other parts of the truck before, mainly simple circuits with relays and fuses for accessories and this is my first time diving into the audio side of things, so I apologize if some of these questions are asinine and I also apologize for the long post. But I wanted to confirm some things before I order the modules to make sure I have the process and all materials needed figured out before I start on this project.

    Wiring Scheme

I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma with an Entune nav system, the Model # for the system is 86100-04060 and the connectors on the back are shown below.

    Entune-86100-04060-Connectors_9fd9e0c694f3c27d34f483ba22aed80a87ecc00a.jpg

According to the instructions, I need to tap into the following cables:
    • Left front speaker (+)
    • Left front speaker (-)
    • Right front speaker (+)
    • Right front speaker (-)
    • Right rear speaker (+)
    • Left rear speaker (+)
    • Mute wire
After reading several posts on the forum and reading the complicated wiring diagram from TIS, I decided to rework the diagram into something easier to visualize. Below is a table of the pinout for the connectors (to minimize confusion, the orientation is looking at the pins on the cable plugs, not from the wire side of the plugs, and not looking at the sockets on the nav system itself). Can anyone confirm my research?

    Entune-86100-04060-Harness-Pinouts_7b6fa4dc56ab98abfb7183a5ba4093f17bc928c9.jpg

    Pins for Plugs

And for the pins for the plugs, I have decided that I am going to cut the wires, remove the pins and use longer lengths of wire so I can locate the units in the cavity below the nav system near where the aux cable and USB plugs are located on the center dash. And I will also need to get a pin so I can add a mute wire to the system. So I am on a quest to look for new pins.

So I found plug #3 on TE Connectivity as connector 1717115-1 and the pins for the connector are 1674311-1 and 1674311-2, which are apparently now obsolete and a lot of places that still have them in stock require a minimum order of some ridiculous amount. However, I did find Sumitomo TS 025 Female Terminal 0.22 - 0.5mm2 (24 - 20AWG) which seems to match the specs of the TE pins. Can anybody confirm that these Sumitomo pins will also work with plug #3?

As for plugs #5 and #6, they look like they use the same size pins. And I am having a hard time finding the connector part # on TE and on the forums which is making it difficult to find the pins for them. If somebody can help me out with that, that would be much appreciated.

    Instructions for Audio Interrupt Modules

For reference, the instructions from Rogus Innovations for the CBM-U4 Universal Speaker Audio Interrupt are as follows:

And here are the instructions from for the TDS15A Transmit Detection Switch:

Do you mean like use that for the stereo side to connect to the module instead of going through the re-pinning process? I have not re-pinned that type of connector before but I have a hunch is a pain without the crimper.

And looking through all the diagrams you found so far, still haven't figured out a confirmation for the mute wire.
The closest "confirmation" I have found so far was this

Thanks for all the help so far! You are truly the King of Schematics

    Yes
The mute on pin 16 I found it only shows in the separate amplifier setup.

Do you think that function would still be there on the non separate amplifier setup? Would you say I should just go ahead and give it a shot when I install or just not risk running power onto that pin at all?

I guesstimate it most likely is a removal of ground. Maybe someone in the Forum might have more info.

    upload_2023-3-21_4-37-47.jpg
Edit: No need to add Taco Head Unit mute wire if TDS-15A module is added.
Forgot to add the illumination wires.
Optional: Tie fused IGN of radio and ground to CBM-U4

For the diagram you just posted regarding the wiring you added, I am understanding that as the wires to keep connected direct from speakers to stereo system?
Would you say it would be easier to do this by making a dual ended splitter harness that has the wires going to the modules so that way I don't mess with the original factory harness?

Browsing through CorsaTechnic following the , I found the following:

090IIU-6S-1 and 090IIU-6P-1 for the R29 connection, is that the correct one?
On the 090 series on CT, I could not find the male and female plugs for the R30 connection

    And from before, I got:

090IIU-PIN for the pins for the R29 and R30 connections
090IIU-SKT for the sockets for the R29 and R30 connections
MLC025HL-SKT1 for the mute wire socket for the R31 connection

Does the source you have for specs give you the wire gauge for the R29 and R30 connections since the 090IIU-PIN page has several gauge options?

Corsa has the terminals required, for the connectors Toyota would be the best source.
R31 terminal correlates to the one in the terminal #.
For wire gauge, measure the OEM wires, match those. I'd get a dozen terminals (pins & sockets) of each wire gauge size.

So I got clarification from the guys over at Rogus Innovations.

If you are using the CBM-U4 by itself you do not have to connect the the brown wire to anything at all and the auto-mute function will still work since the unit detects receiving on the 2-way radio through its 3mm connection to the radio. It will process the auto-mute internally and the stereo won't even know that it has been muted and will just keep playing.

If you use the TDS-15A on its own, you would connect the brown wire to the stereo mute pin if it has one. They also mentioned it can only be used this way on older aftermarket or factory stereos and that the mute pin is generally not available on current vehicle models.

If you want to use the TDS-15A with the CBM-U4, then you would connect the brown wire from the TDS-15A with the brown wire on the CBM-U4 and you will not have to connect anything to a mute pin on the stereo system. The TDS-15A will simply tell the CBM-U4 that its detecting a transmit and will pretty much replicate the radio receive auto-mute function native to the CBM-U4 without the stereo knowing that it has been muted.

This makes it even easier to install since if you are installing both modules, you are only going to be playing with the speaker wires.

    For the CBM-U4:
All speaker wires and the brown wire are 20AWG
Power and ground wires are 18AWG

    For the TDS-15A:
    All wires are 18AWG
