I originally ordered a full kit of after market audio upgrade kit for my Tacoma through Taco tunes, due to their slow shipping and more research I cancelled and decided to try and piece together an audio system myself.

    Info about my Truck:

    • 2018 TRD Off Road

    • Double Cab

    • Automatic v6

    • Stock audio
Info on my research for audio equipment:

    • I still plan on using their 10 inch sub box: Taco Tunes 10 inch Sub Box (Should I get the Image Dynamics ID10V4 Dual 4 Ohm 10 Inch Subwoofer that I can bundle with it? Also do I want 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm? The subwoofer would mainly be for deeper better audio rather than loud bumping)

    • After some research I stumbled upon: Kicker 46CSC6934 are these good or should I choose better

    • Many people recommend the Genuine Subaru H631SFJ101 Tweeter Kit although I think its because its plug and play direct replacement for stock tweeters, if I'm doing an amp should I look for different ones?

    • Here's what I found for the rear speakers: Kicker 46CSC674 any opinions on this?

    • I have no idea what amp I would need or how much watts the set up would need. I suspect I will need a 5 channel amp. I'm looking for a budget one, Taco Tunes 5 channel amp I need to stay under $1000 for the whole set up. I'd like to avoid overheating and if I need to pay a bit more for something that will last.

    • The set from Taco Tunes that I previously refunded with rear speakers and 10 inch 4 0hm sub comes out to $950 should I try to re purchase my order, or can I do better?

I'm a unfamiliar to this topic and honestly do not know much, which is why I originally purchased the kit. I plan to pay to have it professionally installed. Will I need to buy wires or anything other than the components?

For me, I didnt want to deal with installing an aftermarket system that would require hacking up my factory wiring or adding components that Didnt look factory. I decided to go with an OEM Audio Plus system. It is all plug and play which didnt require me to take it to a shop to install and the sound quality is awesome. It doesnt pound like my system when I was younger, but the quality of the Highs and lows are perfectly balanced for my current liking. If you want more bass, they also offer an add on bass module. Granted the system is not cheap at $1600, but if you are not including the labor in your budget, you would be right around there in total cost. The Reference 500 system includes all replacement speakers, tweeters, subwoofer, amp and all wires necessary to make this plug and play. Took about 2-3hours to install. Goodluck whatever you decide to go with.
