So I have a 2002 Tacoma that I bought used a couple years ago. There is a small button beside the ECT button that blinks blue. In order to start the truck you have to turn the key to “on”, then push this button, then start the truck. I’m interested to know how to remove this before the button fails and leaves me stranded. There is also a small old disconnected horn under the hood stamped AS-9903. A search says it’s audiovox. I’m not positive the button and the horn are related. I’m just guessing. Does anyone have any experience with this system and knowledge on how to remove it? Thank you.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Think we're going to need more info to help much, you can remove the knee panel and I bet the actual device itself it tapped into the wiring for the column key start there.

Sounds like an ignition kill off of an old alarm. You might be able to replace the alarm with a new one for added security for your truck. Otherwise it probably has a tap into the starter that loops through the old alarm before allowing the power to start your truck. Just bypass that and you are good to go.

My guess would be to just short the button so it's always "pushed"
