They don’t tighten enough. Lights flop when wheeling

20% off was hard to say no. They’ll be here tomorrow still have not decided if I’m going to use the RTT or put my shell back on and sleep in the bed. Guess I need to decide so I can figure out where to mount them. Lol.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. Controlled failure point.

Hear me out - get two ~6 ft Deutsch extensions. Set 'em up on the roof, and then if you need to move them, just drop in the extensions.

    This plus some wire :notsure:

I have magnets, but they can bolt right to either the rack on my shell or bolt to the unistrut rails on the RTT

Stupid question probably. Do either of you know if a switch panel like the linked one (or aux beam https://www.amazon.com/Auxbeam-Cont...bad-a7e9-e9fea3a3a7f7&pd_rd_i=B07KZLB74K&th=1- looking at that due to better reviews) are able to be wired so it is only powered when the ignition is on?

Yup! Mine is keyed power using an add a fuse to some circuit under the steering wheel. Either sunroof or heater most likely. (i don't have a sunroof so it's an open fuse and keyed power, i think. Been a while since I was doing stuff down there).

But the quick answer to your question is yes - they are can be put on keyed power.

Edit - that's what ACC is here. 12V coming in to power it. You tap that into a keyed circuit.

If this is your ONLY light or accessory, i wouldn't bother with a panel. I have 3 light circuits (maybe a 4th soon but that's just for shits and giggles not for a "need") and a radio on mine.

You can, but you gotta run a wire to the fuse box under the dash (I still gotta do this)

He MIGHT have success with the engine fuse panel on the second gen. Mine made the electronics possessed. But a bunch of the stuff i was reading was people tapping in second gens a okay. Still, gotta run a wire for the controller to the cab anyway, might as well run the 12V at the same time.

Mike - I'll check tomorrow there's a 75% chance I have add a fuse circuit things because it's like a dollar more to buy 15 than it is to buy one from Amazon :spy:

I have an add a fuse circuit that I added for my hardwired cb setup- pretty sure its off the radio fuse slot so its keyed power, but I dont use it because that cb is fried. Got all fancy, mounted it in the center console, only to find out it didnt work (got it second hand)- never bought a replacement. Been using another cb that I got for free- that plugs into my cigarette lighter, so that add a fuse line is free.

Would be looking to add a handful of other things down the road so this wouldn’t be the only thing the switch would be used for.

It is possible and recommended to tap into ACC or IGN, that way you don't kill your battery.

Back from a few days in the Rangeley area. Absolutely gorgeous as always. Had some good rain so dust was only bad the later hours of our last day on the trail. Was incredibly hot and humid up there, ye be warned. Freakin love it up there though. So good.

Out of curiosity, for those attending. What do you plan on bringing for tools/spares/fluids/etc?

I bring a pretty complete toolkit (sockets, plyers, prybar, random other tools). For spares I just bring oil and a serpentine belt. The most important stuff to bring is a jump pack, full size spare, tire plugs, and tire patches. Other than that I really dont see too much of an issue sense it is not really wheeling, just gravel roads for the most part.

Was planning on bringing my tool roll with full set of sockets, breaker bar, wrenches, pry bars, punches, and screw drivers- might toss my smaller torque wrench in the cab too. Full size spare. Air compressor. Tire plug kit. Extra quart of oil is always in my truck just in case. 5 gal jerry can. Traction boards too, to put under the jack for the extra height needed with my tires.
