    G'day all,

Thought Id register here. Used occasionally wonder over to this forum but forgot about it for quite a while till AWSUMDC reminded me. Cheers :D

Anyway, Im from Australia and although I dont own a Tacoma, I do own his cousin, the Hilux.... not as quick and slightly smaller in stature but very closely related non the less. The hilux diesel being abit slower than his tacoma V6 cousin, but what he lacks in speed he makes up for in strength, economy and low down torque pulling ability.

anyway, shes an 07 model dual cab 4x4 diesel, with the 4speed auto...i know i know...a 4speed, what was toyota thinking!

This is how she was standard at the dealership-
    10072007079_b41dd48a3c9458ee7999f49ad68fd1e01a53b65f.jpg

And since then Ive added the following to make her what she looks like now below.
    -3" lift
    -16x8 steel wheels
    -285/75x16 Silverstone MT117 Sport Tyres
    -ARB barwork
    -Snorkel
    -Skid Plates
-3" dump pipe and straight through exhaust, no mufflers.
    -Front ARB air locker
-Powder coated black rear SR5 sports bar
-And a host of other bits and pieces.

Future Mods include a 2inch bodylift hopefully, custom tube front bar and matching sliders, 34 inch Simex or Swamper tyres, A rear Locker, Diff Gears, Custom Tube rear tray, Lefty!

Id love her to look close to how this one below does from Thailand. Its running a 4" drop bracket lift with 35/10.5x16 Simex tyres.

Yours looks better than the Thai one. Diggin how your front bumper takes away the Fordish look of the showroom one. Badass downunder ride! Thanks for sharing the coolness. Welcome aboard.

    Awesome truck!!

We drool over the oppurtunity of having a diesel in our trucks....but that ain't happening.

I'd love to see some videos/pictures of your offroad adventures over there in Austrailia.

Do you have a lot of areas to go offroad where you are? School us on your wheeling culture... What are your biggest concerns there?

Oh yeah, and what's that white toyota behind the hilux?

Welcome to the forum!! (sorry for all the questions)

    Hey Fella's,

Thanks for the warm welcome. :)

That white vehicle in the showroom behind mine is the 70series Landcruiser wagon...basically the industrial version.

Live front axle, coil front end, leaf rear, 4.5 litre V8 turbo diesel.....absolutely awesome vehicle. If I put the money I spent on my hilux so far I could have got a standard one....they are pricey.

Yes, there are quite abit of areas to offroad here in australia, the place is so damn big....LOL

Problem thou is if your in the city, you have abit of a drive to get to decent places to offroad.

down south, it gets muddy abit on the tracks most of the year so we use probably more mud tyres on our vehicles than all terrains.

Theres probably two groups of fourbies here in OZ, the tourers (like your expedition vehicles style) and the offroaders like me that go out and try the hard trails once a month, most of our trails are in the hills, and usually are rutted tracks and the like.

Not that big on rock crawling here, but there are groups of people into it...I think you guys have alot more rock there in the states...LOL

Desert wheeling isnt that popular here, mainly cos its too far away and we can legally fit the long travel kits to our rigs and still be classed as roadworthy for daily duties.

main offroading issues at the moment is looking after the forests while wheeling in the hills, dont want to give us fourby enthusiasts a bad name, aswell as trying to keep the parks and forests open to the public which the Green movement keeps trying to lock em up from the public....big no, no, and the reason why we had the Huge firestorms here in victoria last month that killed over 200 people....47degrees celcius, upto 150km/h wind, and forest full of fuel that had been closed off to grazing, and some public use, and the fact that we had a week of 40+ degrees before hand all contributed to the perfect storm like you see on pay tv documentaries.

Our road regulations are more stricter than yours, we have to learn to do more things with smaller lifts.

most vehicle are only 2 or 3 " lifted and maximum 33 inch tyres...even thats technically illegal here.

anyway, will just and post somepic later on.

    cheers
