Nope - didn't realize there was such a thing. They live in the city and have never seen a rattler in the 10 years they've lived there.

She's a big girl, and handled the two vials of antivenin pretty well. Still, she has kidney problems (eats a special food for it) and is having trouble with some internal bleeding. She's walking, but swollen and miserable.

Does anybody locally have some software to turn off the seat belt chime? I came to Toyota to get my 1st maintanance service and asked the service writer about it and they wanted to charge $90 to turn it off. If thats the case, It'd be cheaper to get the Carista.

You're fortunate to be a fan of crappy beer. Imagine paying that for beer that you think sucks... :boink::bananadead:

That's great news! I know what its like to see a dog go through a rattle snake bite. I'll be thinking of her! Hopefully the kidney issues clear up with the special diet and lots of water!

I do. I have techstream and a cable setup on a laptop. I'd have to research how to disable the chime for you but we can give it a shot. PM me and maybe we can meet up? I can't make C&C but I live a few exits up from the track. Perhaps meetup Sunday afternoon?

If you guys and gals will allow me one more post about dogs, (who am I kidding? this won't be my last post about dogs...), I wanted to mention a couple of things.

First, one of the things I love about working with rescue groups is seeing how the dog is flourishing in his new home. Last November, I played a part in the adoption of a male named Cosmos, to a very cool guy here in Austin. Cosmos was owned by a young man in the Dallas area, along with another Dal, a female named Nova. The owner had just graduated with a double major in physics and aeronautical engineering, and was in the process of moving to California, to take a job with NASA, when he was killed in a head on auto accident. Nova went to a family member, but there was not an ideal situation for Cosmos, amongst the rest of the family, so they turned to DRNT. I was asked to vet a guy that was interested, as he lives here in the Austin area, and let me tell you, I wish I had been as squared away as this guy is at his age, or hell, even at my age. He owns a couple of food trailers, named Biscuits and Groovy, (his female Dal is named Biscuit), writes software, and is just a humble guy. Check out his bidness:

The adoption went great, and it was kinda cool that Cosmos' first dad was a young single guy that had things going on; the same thing could be said for his second dad. He also got a new sister, not to replace Nova, but we all need a sister, right? Jonathan is such a cool guy that when recently contacted by the parents of Cosmos' first owner, who were in town and wondered if they could see Cosmos again, told them certainly. He said the visit really helped the parents, who are obviously still grieving the loss of their son.

Here is a pic of Cosmos on the Guadalupe yesterday afternoon. I think he has a great home!

Second point is about snakes and dogs. If there is ANY chance your dog may come in contact with poisonous snakes, please do two things:

    - Get the annual snake venom shot. The shot doesn't mean your dog will survive a snake bite, but it does give you more time to get your dog to the vet, and therefore, a better chance of survival.
    - Get snake training. This is simply exposing your dog to a snake of a particular variety, and when the dog shows interest, they get a pretty strong electric shock, through the collar they have on. It will hurt to hear your dog yelp, but believe me, the training is effective. We have had the training done in our neighborhood three separate times now, and last year I took my youngest to it, as we had just adopted her. The next door neighbor's dog had been to the training the year before, for rattlesnake, and was going to get cottonmouth training that day. When the lady doing the training pulled up in the driveway, the neighbor's dog wanted to be anywhere but there. And keep in mind, the snakes were still in the back of the truck, 25 yards away, and this dog had been trained a year prior. All it took for that dog was smelling the rattler, and he wanted to go home immediately. The cost is $60 per dog, per snake, (just rattlesnake for one dog is $60, rattler and cottonmouth for one dog was $120, for example), but when you see the price of one vial of anti-venom, it's cheap insurance.

I'm sure there are multiple places to do this training, this is the place that we used:
