Hey everyone, I moved to San Marcos about a month ago and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good shops in the area. I haven't needed anything done yet, but it would be nice to have a reputable shop in mind that is close by. I've heard of a couple places up in Austin, but I'd rather find something more local.

Also, I just had my "inspection" done to get registered in Texas, which was a complete joke. They didn't even check everything they were supposed to. Basically just lights, turn signals, brake lights. He mentioned windshield wipers but then forgot about it. Aren't they supposed to check the brakes, horn, seatbelts, etc?
Of course they noticed the tint on my front windows, but we came to an "understanding" on that. Still cheaper than Pennsylvania...
Is it really true that you can just drive in with the windows down and they will ignore it?

Not sure about shops down that way.

I wouldn't worry about your window tint. As long as you're not asking for trouble it should be ok.

I dont trust anyone other than @Texoma to do any work. It's worth the drive for piece of mind and you wont find a nicer guy. You're like me and Chris, we're refugees from PA too:rofl:

As for inspection, I wouldnt worry about it. We've got so many of those places that for "passing" inspection that it's more of a perk than anything. Welcome to Texas and be glad you dont live in an emissions county.

Yea my gf is from DFW, so she had emissions testing there. It was tricky in PA to get certain things by, like wheel spacers. I was lucky enough to find a shop in Philly that just said, "if it's safe, then I'm not going to fail you for it". But PA inspection was also about $60 compared to $7 here, haha.

I can take care of all your Toyota off road needs. I'm originally from ATX, but I lived in Spring City for a bit working down in Claymont DE.

Not from PA. Lived there, now I'm back home.
