My Commute

 

Ive lived in Round Rock, S. Austin and Pflugerville.
Been in Pflugerville for the last 7 yrs. It was a small town but growing like crazy. New schools and new shopping centers left and right.
I have lots of friends with kids and we all live within 5miles.
Check out Blackhawk, Falcon Pointe and Avalon neighboorhood in Pflugerville. My friends live in Avalon and Im in Falcon Pointe. Kids everywhere from elementary all the way to high school.
Nearby Stonehill shopping center which has everything from Target, Home Depot, Restaurants/Fast Food, 24hrs fitnesss, Cinemark Movie theater, Best Buy, Bank, Firestone, Dentist, Dermatologist, and a lot more.
Costco and HEB plus is within 5 miles also.
Theres also the new Baylor Scott and White hospital that was just built two years ago.

 

Came from New Orleans, La. I just compared rent currently in NO to Austin and its almost the same but life in Austin is far better. Miss the food, not the drama. I feel bad that property tax keeps rising but it seems to be going to things that are useful and matters, not to someones fuckin damn pockets.

 

Yup no state tax but rising property tax sucks!

 

I might not mind state tax if for a good reason, its all about how the tax dollars are spent and I see a major difference in that between the 2 cities.

 

Another thing is how to each city's major utilities company handle issues

- SWB in New Orleans "we're fucked and it's gonna take forever to fix these cracked pipes"
- Austin water utilities " holy shit our tanks overflowed and we couldn't keep up, we need captain planet to come up with a contingency play".

During the time I have lived in Austin that was the 1st time I had any water issues and afterwards they came out with a plan to tackle it next time it occurs. Hats off to them.
