    Hey I'm back! Still looking at moving...opinions may have changed....we hate the cold....

    Question for locals, how are the bugs? That's the nice part about colder weather up here is it kills the bugs. Curious if anything either flies or mosquitoes is bad at all through the heat. We're rainy and 45 today and looked at the weather. :eek:

    Hahahah, the mosquitos here suck!! All kinda of bugs almost year around except for when we have a "cold" snap. Cold here means anything below 60.

    That was Reimers and Pace bend. I live in between those. The amount of vehicles was way more than I've seen in a while.

    Well, it just doesn't get that cold here that often anymore. some years we do get actual below freezing during winter which really helps doing spring for the insects, but it hasn't really happened very often in the last 3 to 5 years that I can remember.

    in the 21 years I've lived in the area I have not once gotten a tick or had to deal with em but I know they are out there.

    Awesome, thank you!

    Yeah, that's a selling point to me is the temperatures and the daylight in the winters. Up here we get short days - genuinely had a whole week where I went into work early and left late enough that I didn't see the sun until Friday afternoon (no windows at work, aero R&D/manufacturing facility). It was rough. Plus the weather. Y'all got another transient in the works :D

    Ticks are more a concern for the dog. But good to hear. Thank you!

    Chiggers are my least favorite. If you love to hike through waist/chest high grass you'll be sorry. But other than that fireants are lit down here and as mentioned and always, the skeeters are going to be able to haul off a small human this summer.

    Sweet deal. So sounds like the same mess we deal with minus fireants up here in New England too, just more heat and no cold kills :p

    I suspect you also have way less Californians, who resemble a fire ant/chigger combo.

    :rofl::rofl:

    Nope. We have "Massholes"

    Prepare for a couple Bostonian transplants. I'm from Maine though which, from my understanding of TX so far, is just Cold/North Texas.

    Our neighborhood has some of those. For the most part, they are tolerable, until they start acting like they had any f'ing thing to do with the Patriots success. One has the personalized license plate, "TB XII" on her Beemer. She didn't take too kindly to me when I told her she was very fortunate that Brady ended up in Tampa Bay, as she wouldn't need new plates!

    Hey, I'm an asshole, and am NOT from Boston! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Have you ever been to Australia? We got badder shit than they do. Scorpions, black widows, brown recluse, 3ft long poisonous centipedes, a few different kind of rattle snake, coral snakes, water moccasins, cotton mouths. Thats just some of the deadly poisonous stuff. Then there's skeeters, if your blood type is O+, you may as well just throw in the towel cuz your blood is the sweetest thing to them. Then the Secadas in the summer sound like you got tinnitus all night. Also, Texas is #1 for corona virus cases and deaths, so if the snakes n spiders don't kill you, corona will. You're better off staying where you're at, or even further away from Texas. Hell, Mexico closed their borders to us, what does that tell you. Spread the word, Texas ain't for outsiders anymore.

    Yeah my poocharoo gets them in tall grass a lot here. I just make sure to check him pretty often and he's on preventive meds so that helps. Mosquitoes and bugs are worse the more east you go...like Houston or southeast TX.
