Any suggestions for non dealer shops to work on Tacomas? No modifications needed, oil changes, brakes, and other routine stuff.

    Also tire shops.

Same. I need someone to just install my new power stop rotors and brakes. Fronts only 2020 Tacoma. Stock height. I can do basic truck stuff but I’ve never done brakes. I’d rather pay someone. I’m in N Austin and will drive to you.

I know someone mentioned a shop, but I can't find that post now.

There's a car show in Round Rock Sunday. Maybe someone there will have suggestions for a shop.

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone....

I'm thinking about visiting the chaos that is 6th street. I'd like to see the Comedy Mothership.

Where do you guys park to avoid getting your truck broken into? or worse the truck getting stolen?

Bonus question: Where could you also sleep in your truck if you're too drunk to drive? I've got a camping platform in the back for sleeping....

I've been watch video's and learning about the parking fees, toll roads etc....I'd love any advice you'd feel the need to share with me. Thanks.

I got a kick out of the video "Is 6th street in Austin the most violent place in TX" from KVUE....

    Wouldn't you like to know!
Park in the parking garages in the surrounding area, you should be fine doing that. That's what I do when I go downtown for a comedy show or concert and never had a problem. The later in the night you stay the more shenanigans you'll likely encounter. Enjoy!

So, now that we're here in central Texas, I have a gas price question. When we got here on the 12th, gas prices were about $2.50/gallon. Suddenly on Thursday the prices at most placed jumped to from $2.69-2.89/gallon. Walmart, Costco, Murphy Fuel, and a few other places were only about $2.53/gallon.

That lasted through the weekend and then prices just about everywhere dropped back to the mid $2.40s/gallon or so.

I know that gas prices fluctuate depending on the price of crude, but it seemed odd to have a $0.25-0.40/gallon jump for just a few days.

Keep in mind where we moved from the best price was $3.13/gallon at a big box store similar to Costco. I'm clearly not complaining as I'll take $2.44/gallon QT gas all day long.

Exactly. WTF? This board has gotten kinda weird. People asking for recs on oil change places, (like a Taco is a Lambo), going downtown, and now gas prices. I miss Austin.

In order, from an old :censored: that has been here for 20 years.

    1. Squiffy Lube, or any of the other million places that change oil, just like every other city in 'merica. Or buy a couple of wrenches and do it yourself, it's not hard.
    2. Uber. No need to worry about parking or DUI on the way home. Keep your head low when the bullets and/or fists fly.
    3. It's gas. Don't overthink prices; in the end, it doesn't make as big of an impact on your wallet as you think. If it really bothers you, Toyota still makes Priuses...

The energy industry is kinda big in this state, lol... You'll get used to fuel pricing fluctuations.

    Welcome to centex!

I figured it might be something along those lines. I've heard that there are two or three oil wells in the state. ;)

Thanks for the welcome. We're getting used to doing things differently than what we're used to. Still trying to figure out car insurance. I think I over insured our vehicles since the bill is pretty big. Also, six month terms on insurance?

At least I have my Tx Tags so when I get on a toll road by mistake, they won't kill me with surcharges. :(

Hey guys, I need a little help. I'm surprising my son with a 9-inch carplay unit for Christmas. The truck currently has an aftermarket unit we installed a couple of years ago. I threw away the old stock radio (it was acting up so hence the replacement). Well, turns out the new 9in unit needs a plastic trim/housing that goes over the hazard/clock switch.

So does anyone have a 2nd Gen Tacoma stock radio sitting around collecting dust that I maybe able to get this trim off you? Thanks

I probably should have put a "/sarc" tag after that one. ;)

Chris did, for sure. I went last month, for a little bit, and realized I no longer know many of the folks. Maybe a bad month. Maybe I'll bring my 40 next time.
