Thanks. That makes sense. As it turns out it's a Guanajuato license plate, but not the current one. It has "GTO" on the top of the plate and the state name at the bottom. Which I quickly read a Guantanamo.

FYI, Toyota dropped an update to all 3rd Gen Tacoma 3.5L ECU’s on August 29th, 2024. All Cal Id’s will be updated and the only real change is the DTC that will be present if you use a block heater and cold start, if that makes sense. Nothing else changes besides the Cal ID for the ECU. If you’ve gotten a tune from Brody of Downhill Dragon Tuning or a tune from me, I will update you to the latest version free of charge as a part of my lifetime support for tuning. This is also an oppurtunity to update any changes made to your truck since then including tire size, gear changes, AGM battery, or additional engine performance mods. Again, Downhill Dragon and Triple C previous customers get free lifetime support and I will gladly update your ECU and tune to the latest version. It’ll take me about a week to input all the data into the new files. Takes about 2 to 2.5hrs per Cal ID on 3rd Gen Tacoma’s for me to input every map. Matt from VF Tuner said they’ll have support for all of the new Cal ID’s by the end of this week. Hit me up if you’d like to get updated.

 

Howdy Everyone... Haven't posted in forever. I think the last thing I posted in here was about the ice storm in 2023. Life has been busy as shit.... BUT.... I have been doing stuff to the Tacoma... So since the last time I posted I have installed:

-UpTop Overland Bravo Roof Rack with one of their dual function light bars
-Auxbeam 8 gang switch setup
-Fifteen 52 Analog HD white Wheels with 265/75/16 Falken WP At3's (wish I had waited for the AT4s and done 33" pizza cutters)
-Midland Radio install
-RCI Rock Sliders
-RCI Full Aluminum Skids
-RCI Diff Protector

I have also Put together a Tacoma specific tool kit, and took the family to the MOORE Expo this past spring. I need to make it out to the Pistons in the Park in October. I keep seeing other Tacomas around town and wondering if it is anyone on here.

 

Hell yeah! Next Pistons is Oct. 6th. We’re also headed to Hidden Falls this weekend. Cmon out and put your truck to the test.

 

When do folks show up for this? Is there a place where Tacos park together?

Been traveling a lot for work, but what else is new. And my son is shopping for a 2nd gen Taco now.

 

That’s cool. Is he going for a particular year of 2nd gen? Personally I think 09-11 is the best of the 2nd gen. All the major problems have been eliminated, and you won’t have the air injection that the 12-15 models come with.

 

Cool man, thanks for the heads up. Reality is, he'll get what he can afford. It'll be a while so we'll see. We have to get his Mazda 3 out of the garage first. He spun a rod bearing during a track day in Cresson last month. It wasn't catastrophic, thank goodness. I'm buttoning everything up on it this weekend.

 

Finally got her out to Hill Country.

Been ideating on what to do next. I think a proper suspension is priority number 1. Nose dip and bounce house with 1 inch spacer isn't cutting it anymore. Been thinking about pulling the trigger on Eibach Stage 2. I like the idea of ride height adjustable without breaking the bank, but also don't hate the idea of throwing on some Billies and calling it a day. Decisions...decisions...

 

Bilstein 5100’s are fantastic and budget friendly

 

Texoma, what're your thoughts on Eibach coils on 5100's?

Found a pretty good deal on shock surplus that essentially allows for 5125 rear upgrades at "no cost".

I ran Eibach coils on 5100's lowest clip on my 2013, but not sure about any performance changes to Gen3s

Eibach makes great coil springs. Fox uses them to make exclusively on all their CO’s.

   “1989 Toyota Pickup 4 cylinder 38200 original miles, 4x4, this truck was my 82 year old Uncle, it was not a daily drive it was used on a farm and driven around 1000 miles a year in northern Louisiana. It was given to me a few months ago, and I hauled it home I drive it a few miles a week.
   
   It starts and runs fine, only issue that I know of is the radio don’t work, the temp gauge don’t work but the truck does not get run hot, the AC may not work but the AC motor works. Yes there is some body damage and rust it’s a 1989.
