as far as i know everything in the suspension is stock, and its a leveling kit on it so i'm not sure. i took it into my mechanic and he said, the sway bar was rubbing against something and i should have had it removed when lifted it, and to take it to a 4 wheel place to have it removed. but from what i hear its incredibly simple so no use paying someone to do it.
BUT, on a rainy day a few months back i hydroplaned and hit a curb pretty hard on the front left side, which is where it now squeaks, but it didnt start squeaking immediately, so you could be right about something being broken

That's how I reacted when I test drove one. If I didn't need the bed/v8 of the tundra, it would've been a 4Runner in a heartbeat. You can get a TRD Off-road for under $35k

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
I don't think removing the sway bar should be the first option. There are risks with removing it such as excessive body roll in cornering, enough to where you could potentially lose control of the vehicle. From some of the details you've given, it sounds like you have some damage from hitting the curb. Find what's damaged and repair it before it gets worse.

I enjoyed the 4Runners I had when my truck was hostage to the rear diff recall police. I could definitely see myself in one if I didn't already have (and love) my truck far, far more. It's a very nice vehicle, and my folks commented on how nice the rental SR5 was compared to their GMC Terrain Denali. Quieter, more comfortable seats and ride, and what felt like better interior arrangement.

I'd have an OR or Sport, though. SR5 doesn't have enough goodies...and I need me my blind spot monitoring because #lazy.

There are two FB groups involved; Soft Roaders and Houston Overland. Joining either of those groups will work to sign up.

They are the same folks that did a route some of us used a few weeks back, (you led it), but that was a wine tasting trip. I like beer mo' better...
