Morning Robert. Looks like you guys had a great time!

I've been kicking the RTT idea around for some time, but haven't committed. Can you give me some details on the tent and any pros/cons you might have picked up from using it this weekend?

Hope your Monday is a good one. Is Monday your off day?

I've been running one for a while.

    Pros:
    easier setup
    Cleaner environment
    Better airflow
    More comfortable

    Cons:
    More expensive
Setup can get you dirty if you've been off-road
Once setup, you can't leave (if it's attached to your truck)

Morning Jay! Yes, Monday is my day off. I try to do stuff around the house and run errands but usually end up getting nothing done because I’m wiped out after the weekend.

The RTT setup is pretty awesome! I agree with the stuff @Beretta4x4 was saying. Very convenient and comfortable! It is expensive to start with. You have to get the bed rack and RTT. If you buy new you’ll be out close to $2000 or more. Definitely keep an eye out for a nice used setup in my opinion. The tent I have is plenty big enough for two adults or in my case this weekend my son wanted to use his own ground tent so I had tons of room for me and all my stuff in the tent. It is easy to set up and take down and I’m sure the more I use it I will just get quicker with it. Takes maybe 5 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to put it all away. And that is going slow since I’m new at it. Mine has a nice heavy duty cover on it so it’s easy to rinse off the mud from the trails.

One thing to consider is that you’re probably not going to want to keep the setup on your truck full time. I have a big garage so I have plenty of space to store it but that may not be the case for everyone. It is relatively easy to take off and put on just takes time and an extra set of hands makes a big difference. I’d be more than happy to let you take a look at mine all set up if we could ever get together some time.

Bottom line is I do not regret buying mine and if you camp a fair amount then I would say it’s definitely worth it.

Great feedback, thanks @Beretta4x4 and Robert. I love camping and want to do it more often. We have had various campers over the years but the ended up selling them. I want to get into more dispersed camping, overlanding if you will. I can do with a lot less comfort than my lovely wife can, as I can pee on a bush any time I want... She prefers not to. ;) Our typical family camping is at a State Park, mostly because the bathrooms and shower access. I want to do a little more adventuring, and I hate our tent. It takes about 45 minutes to put up, so I'm always interested in faster options. I appreciate the feedback. I'll start saving my pennies.
