I actually just started hearing a slight clicking noise from the rear end while driving around town but it quickly turned into an embarrassingly loud sound. I was turning lots of heads driving through town.

I'm really not all that surprised the diff let go. I go on spirited rev limiter rally drives getting the truck up to freeway speeds offroad and pitching it sideways in every corner I can. I'd imagine it's pretty hard on the truck...

I’m curious if that had anything to do with the re-gear though. If it’s better left alone I’d second guess doing mine.

I doubt it, but I guess it’s possible that oem gears have better quality than the ECGS gears... Can’t say for sure though. I know that with a re-gear, your pinion gets smaller and smaller the lower the gear ratio you go, so there’s a slight strength loss there.

Has more to do with how finicky Toyota diffs are and if you don't set the gears up totally perfect..they blow up.

Why there are a handful of people that really know toyota diffs that specialize in setting them. Overloading the preload on the carrier bearings just right is one trick.

ECGS record isn't very high and they don't have the best bullet proof rep.

Pulled my 3rd today to see what's going on. Turns out that half the bolts that hold the ring gear on had backed out and the other half were finger tight. The ones that are standing up are scraping the inside of 3rd member casing and chipping away metal. Thankfully ECGS warrantied my 3rd no questions asked, so I'll have a new one in on Thursday.

Yup, wish I found this earlier, would have had them instal lock straps on the bolts in the new diff now that I'm paranoid.

Weird. Not sure why you wouldn't just use them in all diffs, seems like good insurance.

    yeah you'd think ha

Usually they are red locktited on though and should be properly torqued. So that shouldn't happen.

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
That's the second 3rd I've seen from ECGS that had the ring gear bolts back out. Guess they don't own loctite or a torque wrench. I would at the very least check the toque on the new one, or pull the bolts and add loctite.

Nice build by the way.
