The same Shake Shack order, sitting there eight minutes later, and now with a second order tacked on...

I exclusively did DoorDash on Friday night, and one of customers had this adorable Flat-coated Retriever named Tilly, whom she invited me inside to meet...

Tilly's owner also had this horseshoe crab knocker on her front door, which she bought at the Philadelphia Flower Show about 25 years earlier, before she even owned a home...

This order would have had me driving all the way down to where I got the two refrigerators a couple weeks ago, which is not exactly close!

I accepted a stacked order from Uber Eats this evening, thinking it was two orders from the same restaurant going to different customers. After realizing it was two different restaurants, I unassigned. These are just some of the pathetic orders I declined on Uber Eats today...

I picked up a DoorDash order from here this evening; I am very happy to know that Motngomeryville has one (It apparently just opened on February 9th)!:hungry:

I was not about to go in the opposite direction for this kind of pay, and on top of that, it was in Philly!

Two orders at two different restaurants for barely over thirteen bucks, going a total of more than eighteen miles, and one them is all the way in Richboro...?!?!

As of late, Uber Eats has had the most insultingly low orders, but DoorDash suddenly decided that it didn't want to be outdone; I guarantee you that this cheap bastard didn't even tip! I was right near the restaurant in Montgomeryville, headed in the general direction of my girlfriend's house in Chalfont where the customer was also located, but I would have required a bare minimum of six dollars to even consider taking this order

I am officially done with DoorDash and Uber Eats now; I will still maintain accounts for both just in case, but I will be making enough money at this new job I'm starting that I won't really need to do gig work. I will still be scrapping air-conditioners as a side hustle, but that requires far less driving than DoorDash.

Delivering food used to be very profitable, but that was when gas was below $3 per gallon.

I want to get at least another two years out of my truck, and my ultimate goal is to buy something newer, but keep the Tacoma as a spare vehicle; I will give the truck a full cosmetic restoration if I still own it in five years.

People have also become bigger assholes over the last three years or so, and I'm talking about both restaurant employees and customers. Just go back a few pages, and you'll see all the horror stories I have about employees at restaurants who see DoorDashers as an annoyance, and entitled customers who expect royal treatment...

Also, going back to the whole Domino's fiasco, I'm not entirely sure I told the whole story; I mentioned how they expected me to work 11 hours on my first day, and how I suspect someone with their payroll company tried to steal money from my bank account...

I don't think that I mentioned how bossy they were about driving; I could understand if I was driving a vehicle owned by Domino's, but I'm not...

I am driving MY TRUCK, that I pay for insurance and maintenance on. Yes, I would have had an illuminated Domino's sign on the roof, but it's MY TRUCK.

They expected me to (A) drive 5 MPH below the speed limit at all times, and (B) not turn right on red. I am delivering pizzas, and delivering pizzas, is all about speed so I don't have an angry customer.

What ultimately led me to back out before I even started was the prospect of working 11 hours straight on my first day, but let's get one thing straight...

THE TITLE TO MY 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA IS IN MY NAME, AND I PAY FOR THE INSURANCE AND MAINTENANCE. NOBODY TELLS ME HOW TO DRIVE MY TRUCK. PERIOD.

Put me in a company vehicle and I will follow your rules, but in my truck, I am the king. :luvya:

Never used any of them apps. Do you have to "work" every so many days or they deactivate? Not that it matters, I think you're making a wise decision to get out of it.

I almost put in my two weeks at the new dishwashing job based purely on principle: I believe that my girlfriend (@Stitchgirl90 ) started working there in April. She put in a request for time off on August 2nd through August 4th of this year (Carlisle Truck Nationals). I have already bought the $50 showfield pass and reserved the hotel.

Amanda mentioned to her bosses that I was unemployed and looking for a job. The head chef told Amanda to "beg me" to apply for the full-time dishwasher job (my official job title is "utility worker"); I was hesitant at first, but Amanda told me that she was told to tell me that I would be getting the same hours and hourly pay as her, I would be working the same days as her, and I would get to go to beloved truck show since she had already gotten the time off.

I decided to apply, and it was only after the process had been set in motion that Amanda told me that I would be expected to work back-to-back double shifts on weekends because they only had one dishwasher and the other one had just been fired. I about freaked out. Sure, Amanda and I only work every other weekend, but by comparison Amanda works 11am to 7pm. Only because the pay is so good (40 hours a week at $15 an hour, plus overtime), and because I was assured the double shift thing was temporary, did I take the job. My original plan had been scrap stuff and collect unemployment until after Carlisle, and look for an entry-level job in HVAC in early August.

I almost put in my two weeks, because my boss seemingly started to have second thoughts about letting me off for the car show, when he'd promised me as a condition of me taking the job that I'd have that weekend off; I ended up getting off for the first weekend in August, but don't promise me something and then act like you're going to rescind it, especially when that "something" is the Carlisle Truck Nationals...

I've only missed the Carlisle Truck Nationals twice since 2014, and both of those times were family-related (My grandma's funeral in 2015, and a family reunion in 2022).

Just remember. If things don't work out.
The choices you make, may affect some one else's job.
Try to stay calm and on good terms.

I am happy you got the job. But it's always risky when 2 people in a relationship work at the same place.
