I don't think I'm gonna go to Dunkin anymore; I actually did accept a $7 order from a Dunkin Donuts, but the line for the drive-thru was insane, and so I cancelled it...

I saw a couple of cool rides while on the road doing DoorDash yesterday; This 1975-1977 Buick Skylark (basically a "Buick Nova") on 611 Horsham...

I had a situation at a Mexican restaurant in Lambertville, New Jersey while picking up a DoorDash order; I had to use the restroom and it was a tiny place, and of course the restroom was occupied...

On another note, I am fully vaccinated and only wear a mask into restaurants while Dashing for the sole purpose of humoring my mom; Specifically, she can ask me if I wore a mask into restaurants and I can tell her the truth rather than lying. I was wearing an N95 when this happened...

I was waiting for the bathroom to become available, and I was a little close to the door; A middle-aged man walked up to me out of nowhere and grabs onto my arm, and asks me in a rather brusk tone if I could back up from the door so I wouldn't "scare the crap out of his wife when she came out of the bathroom"...

A reasonable request, but a total stranger and especially a rather abrasive dude grabbing my arm put me on the defensive; Pandemic or no pandemic, I have autism and I don't like people violating my bubble. I also do not like perfect strangers touching me.

I said okay but asked him, also rather abrasively, to not touch me; We parted ways, but I was still hyped up...

His wife came out of the bathroom, and unsure of where the the husband had gone, I explained the situation to his wife and he appeared again; He thought I was being confrontational, but I really wasn't. I explained to him how I understood his concern, but that I had autism and I didn't like people getting into my personal space or touching me. He said he understood this and we parted ways on positive terms! I think this stubborn Aspie is finally learning!

This happened on the drive home, on 202 in New Britain...

    What would you do?

There was a police SUV in my lane facing my direction, with it's emergency lights on and two cones in front of it. There were cars passing freely in the opposing lane, there was no cop present, and there was no formal barricade...

The car behind me turned on its left signal, so I did as well. The cars in the opposing lane stopped coming, and the cop moved into the opposing lane as if he was letting us by. I drove around the two cones and the cop flung his door open. He was pissed and starting giving me the "What the hell are you doing?!?!" lecture...

There was nothing specifically saying the road was closed, and it was legitimately confusing to me; I explained to the cop that I legitimately thought he letting me by. I ended with "I apologize, officer" and he responded with "Have a good night and drive safely."

He did not say anything about the fact that I was driving a pickup truck covered in Christmas lights (yes, it's illegal; Central Bucks cops are very cool about it)...

    :devil::yes:

I found a shortcut, bypassed the road closure, got back on 202, and made it to the 611 bypass; When I got back to 202 after the shortcut, everything I saw (road flares, a flatbed truck, and what appeared to be a damaged car) pointed towards a multi-vehicle accident...

    Again, what would you do?

I completed my first GameStop delivery today, and I will never pick up from GameStop again; It has nothing to do with how much I was paid (the payout was actually pretty good)...

Why? In the last month or so, apparently Dashers have been stealing video games and other expensive items from GameStop that they were tasked with delivering, and now GameStop is requiring photo ID from all DoorDash drivers; Anybody on TW who knows me well knows that being asked for ID in certain situations can be a trigger for me.

I was dumbfounded and asked if it was a mature-rated game, and the tomboyishly cute girl behind the counter (I'm guessing she was 19 or 20) explained to me the whole "Dashers stealing merchandise" situation; When it comes to dealing with strangers in less-than-enjoyable situations, I'm far more relaxed when dealing with females and I did not fly off the handle like I would have in about 2016 or 2017. I even explained to her the whole "autism" and "unpleasant encounter with police while taking pictures" situations and we had a friendly conversation...

I handed the clerk my military ID since it doesn't have my address on it; I encountered a situation similar to this a few years back when I was working at Puck...

DoorDash has my full name, my home address, my social security number, and my bank account number; They also have the make, model, color, cab type, and license plate number of my truck. DoorDash, despite being a pain in the ass to deal with at times, is a secure and ultimately trustworthy entity!

What happened when I was working at Puck is that grocery store I got various items from implemented a new computer system or something, for accepting checks; Even though I was a longtime customer, I still had to show ID for the check to be accepted...

Understandable, but it was a corporate check; There had been issues in the past where checks from Puck had bounced due to funds not being transferred into the right account, and I didn't not want the authorities showing up at my door if the check bounced. The manager, who knew me, understood the situation completely; As such, I was able to get my boss's driver's license number over the phone and do it that way...

Long story short, I'm honest and certainly have nothing to gain from stealing a video game, but if something happens to that video game after I drop it off at the customer's house, it's not my problem anymore...

Once I mark the item as delivered, I do not want GameStop sending the cops to my house because a porch pirate showed up moments after I left and swiped the item; It has absolutely nothing to do with concerns about identity theft! I'd feel bad that someone's expensive video game got stolen, but after I drop it off and leave, it seriously ceases to become my problem!

This is me after I mark a DoorDash order as delivered and leave the customer's house; I don't get paid enough to give a shit once I've backed out of the customer's driveway...
