This was also night; I got a pretty lucrative order from the Burger King and there was absolutely no indication that the place was closed for indoor dining or that I had to go through the drive-they. However, when I showed up, I found the main entrance locked up; I had to pound on the glass for quite a while before I got the attention of the teenage staff, and then they directed me another door...

The staff was very friendly, and explained to me that they kept the doors locked because they were simply too understaffed to do anything but operate out of the drive-thru. There were no COVID restrictions, masks weren't required, and the bathrooms were open; The one kid who handed me the order told me that he made barely over $9 per hour, but his friend who worked at a new Wawa nearby made $15+ per hour. However, the kid at BK made more than his friend because the Wawa was so overstaffed that they only let him work one day a week. Hence, that's why he chose to stay at Burger King!

 

My neighborhood, it's overzealous homeowners association, would not take kindly to lights being left up after January...

I've said it before and I will say it again; I am NOT a personal shopper!

 

This was one of the deceptive orders that you really have to pay attention to before accepting; Two orders at $5 apiece...

NOPE!

 

No way...

 

I forget what restaurant this order came from, but the customer knew how to tip!

 

Nope...

 

Pass...

 

A whole bunch of heat pumps at an Italian restaurant in Blue Bell...

 

I don't know if this is a Rheem or a Ruud, but it has the iconic "stamped octagon" (my unofficial name) fan grille design in use from roughly the late 1970s until 2004; These are some of the best split-system condensers ever built in my opinion!

 

This view of the heat pumps through my backup camera shows you just how tight the parking situation was at this place!

 

Now we're caught up to this morning; I haven't taken a solo order of less than $7 in almost a year!

A novice Dasher would think "Holy shit, almost fifty bucks!" If you closely, you will see that there are six separate destinations here; Half a dozen customers! $48 adds up to exactly $8 per order, which isn't bad at all...

However, I've done Walmart before and it is more trouble than it is worth; Customers rarely know they are getting their groceries from DoorDasher driver in their personal vehicle, and at best they don't tip...

At worst, they're like the behind-the-times older gentlemen who had no idea what DoorDash was and thought that I was a porch pirate stealing the groceries I was delivering!

 

No Walmart!

 

I'm really getting serious about not accepting orders under $8...

 

99% sure that this is the same order from the donut shop that I declined, which most certainly went to another Dasher and promptly got declined by them, then went back to me; I declined it again...

You want your donuts delivered in a timely manner? Leave a decent tip, dammit!

 

Nope.
