I don't know what the hell this is about, considering that I notified Uber support as soon as my truck had a problem and explained the situation. The order was cancelled, the customer was notified, and I still got paid! Unexpected mechanical trouble with a vehicle is a legit issue. Also, this the first time I've actually had to abort an order after I'd already gotten in the truck and started to leave.

And the minimum completion rate used to be 80%, but now it's 90%. If your completion rate falls below 90%, you have a good change of being deactivated and not being able to dash. You can appeal the decision, but who the hell wants the hassle?

I thought the minimum completion requirement was still 80%, and I unassigned several orders that ended up being really far for what they were paying. Obviously, I'm not stealing orders. Seriously though, I see absolutely nothing wrong with unassigning orders if they turn out to be undesirable in terms of pay, distance, etc!

So, I unknowingly let my rating drop to 90%, and I started getting "reminders" from DoorDash via text message notifying me that I was eligible for deactivation on the platform if it dropped below 90%. The percentage resets every 100 orders, but in the meantime I felt a bit intimidated, so I actually blocked the number that was sending me the texts.

DoorDash says drivers should carefully look at all orders that pop up, which isn't always easy when you're driving! o_O

There's no real penalty for declining orders, though you lose your Top Dasher status id you go below 70% acceptable and don't get prioritized for more desirable (higher-paying) orders if it goes below 50%.

    PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE STORY!

I had an unpleasant experience at the Acme supermarket in Doylestown today, but it had a happy ending; I got the best tip that I have ever gotten since I started doing gig work!

So, I have NEVER picked up an order at Acme before, like ever; I'm glad that I was in the access cab loaner truck, because I never would have fit all those groceries in my cab. The size of the order was not the problem...

So, I parked the truck out in the parking lot (I didn't even park at the curb), and went to customer service just like it said in the instructions. I waited for the older woman behind the customer service desk to finish up with another customer, and then I told her that I had a DoorDash order for so-and-so. She rather gruffly told me where to go; I went to the pickup area and found my customer's groceries in a shopping cart, and I had no reason whatsoever to believe that this wasn't the whole order because the contents of the order weren't listed on the app.

I will admit that I should have read the signs taped to the refrigerators where perishable orders were kept, but that's about the only thing I take responsibility for; I was apparently supposed to seek assistance from a staff member, and I did not know this. I just pushed the shopping cart out to the truck, crammed everything inside, and drove to the customer's house maybe two miles away. As I was pulling up outside the customer's townhouse, a call came in from an unfamiliar number; I sent it to voicemail, and quickly got a message. It was some guy from DoorDash saying I'd left some of the customer's order behind, and that I needed to go back to the store...

Assuming that the DoorDash guy could see my location via my phone's GPS tracker, I started driving back to Acme; I got no less than three calls and one more voicemail from DoorDash, but I really wasn't in the mood to talk.

I arrived back at Acme, parking in the fire lane this time, and went inside. The female employee immediately started chewing me out; I would have gotten myself thrown out of the store a few years ago, but my therapist has been working with me on keeping my cool; I did not yell or utter one profanity. I took responsibility for having not read the signs, and apologized profusely. This woman was being a bitch; I told her that I have autism and sensory issues, that I didn't do well with being yelled at, and that I felt she was being very rude to me. She continued to be a bitch, and I said "you know what, I'm gonna take everything out of my truck, bring it back into the store, and cancel the order." Her response to this was that I'd technically taken the groceries without permission and that was theft. This made me even angrier, but a higher power kept me from losing my cool. She also strongly hinted that she would see to it that I got in trouble with DoorDash; I said "fine" and decided to complete the order...

I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THE GODDAMN GROCERIES WERE ALREADY PAID FOR, AND THAT THE USUAL WAY OF DOING THINGS IS TO GRAB THE FOOD FROM A SHELF SPECIFICALLY FOR DOORDASH AND UBER EATS ORDERS, AND LEAVE.

For the record, I do know a really good lawyer in the area who has helped me out with getting restitution from the drunk driver who hit me, and getting charges reduced on two traffic tickets; I namedropped that lawyer and said that if she tried to accuse of theft of food that was already paid for me, they'd be hearing from him. I WILL NOT BE A VERY NICE THE NEXT TIME SOMEBODY ACCUSES ME OF STEALING. DO NOT QUESTION MY INTEGRITY! I COULDN'T GIVE TWO FUCKS ABOUT WHAT THE LAW SAYS WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING LIKE PUTTING CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON MY TRUCK, BUT DO NOT EVER ACCUSE ME OF STEALING OR QUESTION MY INTEGRITY!:luvya:

So, I got the rest of the order, and immediately called the customer to explain the situation; I was very apologetic, and while on the phone with this woman I dropped one of the large bottles of Diet Coke. The lid split open and it sprayed down the side of the truck and all over the ground. The bitch employee happened to come outside with another customer's order and see the obvious signs of a dropped soda, and continued to berate me. She hinted that she expected me to come inside and buy another bottle of soda, so I one-upped her...

Upon arrival back at the customer's house, I explained the entire situation to the elderly customer and husband, including the soda incident; I said that I didn't have any cash on me at that moment, but I would save her address in my GPS and be back with a fresh bottle of Diet Coke. She and her husband said that it was fine, and what was originally a $9.25 payout turned into a nearly $50 payout. Like I said, they gave me one hell of a tip! The moral of the story here is that honesty is the best policy.

I can tell you right now that I will never be returning to that Acme, even as a customer, in the near future.

I would have told the lady in the store,
    "Don't worry about me.
I'll never be back. Just let me get these items and I'll be out of here."

In the parking lot, I would have told her to, "leave me the hell alone.
The sooner you quit your bitchin', the sooner I'll be gone."

You seem to have a lot of issues with DoorDash.
You ever thought about working for a pizza place or something.
That way you just have to deal with one store.

From what I hear by your accounts. I wouldn't want to do DoorDash.

That's not even the whole story. If there's one thing that I really hate, it's people who are not law enforcement telling me how to drive and/or park...

While I was loading groceries into the truck in the fire lane, a perfect stranger decided to stick his nose where it didn't belong. An older guy in a Subaru Forester rather rudely voiced his disapproval about my parking job as he drove by, while I had the customer on the phone.

I said "up yours" and the guy in the Subaru responded with "fuck you". People are getting ballsier and ballsier about confronting people they don't know over petty bullshit, and they really need to mind their own business!

This was the Acme order when it first came in; I find it funny that several places haven't updated their instructions and protocols. Note that it still tells Dashers to mask up and social distance. I have not seen universal mask mandates in a place that wasn't a doctor's office or somehow medical-related since November 2021.

It does say that frozen items are kept separate and not to take items myself, but for some reason I was in the mindset that I was okay to take it if it was not in a restricted area. I admitted that I was wrong, and the woman crossed a line with how she acted and talked down to me. It was a simple mistake, and because of one employee's rude behavior over a simple misunderstanding, that Acme has a lost a customer for the foreseeable future!

So when I first did DoorDash, it was a side hustle and not a sole source of income; I might be getting my job back at NAVMAR. I still plan on getting a job at Home Depot too. I think my truck is trying to tell me to stop Dashing as well...

    @Steves104x4

You have basically the same truck as me except for 4WD and different axles. How many miles on your truck? Has the frame been replaced? If yes, have a lot of things had to be replaced since the frame job? What have you had to replace on your truck?
