Auto dim rear view sucks; gentex real world performance? is there one better?

There are DOT ones and offroad ones. It is pretty easy to tell them apart when folks are using them in oncoming traffic.

 

I guess when you said fogs I was thinking you meant the DOT SAEs. I definitely agree anything non DOT would be brutal to look at oncoming.

 

I had a flip style mirror but opted for the auto dimming/compass/outside temp mirror from https://www.bobsmirrors.com/ (no home link because I don't need it).

The dimming function stopped working and he sent me a replacement mirror even though it was out of warranty.
