I've had the truck for a few months now and never thought the rear view mirror dimmed much at night. This week I turned it off driving home from work at night and there is absolutely no difference in how bright headlights are behind me in on and off mode. The green power indicator comes on but there's no dimming. Is this a common issue? It's under warranty but I suspect I'll have a hard time proving there's a problem with it during the day when the service department is open.

I wondered about this since I bought mine a year ago also but there are always more pressing things to deal with (such as replacing the plastic crap Toyota calls bumpers...)

Mine seems to need fairly bright light to activate it. It's not terrible, but it is a little annoying that it takes an extremely bright set of high beams to activate it.
I can't stand the shitbags driving around with their high beams on.

Maybe from lifted trucks not re-aiming their headlights. When I get my lift installed I'll be doing that since I'm a responsible citizen and fellow driver sharing the road!

It's not that, it's just that the lights are bright for all vehicles behind me, and they are the same brightness with the mirror on or off.

Is the tinting on your back windows darker than stock?

Have you tried turning it off to see if there is a difference?

If they go around, it tends to be the blue hairs or the hoopties with front end damage. But, you're right, some lifted are blinding, good on you sir for doing the right thing.

It works in mine. It is not as good as my last vehicle which prompted me to test it one night but it does work.

its not noticeable all the time, but every now and then i can see a difference between the rear view mirror and driver side mirror

the power rear view is really just good for that dongar attachment to power my dash cam from that power port

Mine's kinda slow to react but it does work. It's really noticeable that it dims when the back slider is open.

I haven't tested the auto dimming feature on my mirror, but I did cover the little green light with a small black vinyl square. That thing was so annoying! :frusty:
