    Hello,

What is the pros of the auto dimming mirror? I know it is automatic, but is a better dimming compared to the manual one? Because I'm not sure if I will change mine or not
Also, if i add a backup camera, is it better on the rear view mirror or on double din stereo?

I just bought a GenTex 453 auto-dimming mirror because I could not longer deal with the no-frills mirror that came with the truck. Having an auto-dimming mirror is worth it's weight in gold.

As far as the video output, my 2010 has the rear view camera in the mirror itself and the 2014 has it in the double-din stereo. Even though the double-din is larger, I still kind of prefer the video output to be in the mirror. It's a matter of preference, and as long as you maintain good habits when reversing (physically turning around and looking, etc) and use the rear view camera as an adjunct, you'll easily become accustomed to having the rear view camera output in either the mirror or double-din.

My wife's Sienna has an auto dimming mirror. I hate that damned thing. That Sienna is probably one of THE best vehicles we've ever owned. It has over 200,000 miles on it, doesn't burn a drop of oil, rides and drives great, has good power, isn't rusting out (2006) and has been dead nuts dependable.
You have to run your tires at about 40 psi or it really wears them out fast and wallers around rolling down the highway because it is a heavy van for the tire size, and I hate the damned auto dimming mirror. Those are the only two things I don't like about it.

See, opinions vary. See if you can find someone with the mirror you are interested in and ask if you can drive it at night, in traffic.

I don't want to speak for @winkel but it might be because the auto dimming mirrors are obviously darker at night, and can make things harder to see especially if you have a tinted rear window. I don't have a problem with that as I've acclimated to it, but I can see how having an auto-dimming mirror and a dark rear window can bother others.

I'm also not a fan of the automatic dimming rear mirror. They suck and do not dim enough in my opinion. I do love the backup camera in the mirror.

I get too much glare from it before it dims. You may get likes/dislikes based upon a person's age. I'm 53 and have mild cataracts. Any glare at night bothers me.

I just like the simplicity of being able to flip my rear view mirror up when it gets dark. If the sensitivity were adjustable, it might be a different story.

Same here with cataracts and 63 years young. Getting the cataracts removed at the end of the month.

I did not feel the auto-dimming mirror on mine worked very well -- pretty much the same problems expressed by others above. On mine I took some black electrical tape and tried experimenting covering light sensor on its back side with various degrees of blockage. It worked real good for me using considerable blockage.

Can you give a few more details on how you blocked the sensor? Electrical tape? Piece of tint? Mine was horrible last night to the point I could barely tell a difference with it on/off!

    Thanks!
