With the headlights switch in Auto, the headlights should come on when the sensor on the dash detects dark conditions after a preset amount of time. That time can be adjusted in the Vehicle settings under Lighting. Currently, I have that setting on default (zero).. and yet my headlights don’t come on right away when I drive through a tunnel, for example. Sometimes not at all. Meanwhile cars all around me have their headlights turn on the second they enter. I’ve tried increasing the sensitivity level to max (2+) and still the lights take forever to turn on. Any suggestions?

    Interesting question...

I have a 2021 Sport and the sensor in my truck works too good.

The display goes between bright and dim when I'm traveling through a road that is littered with trees that extend over the road creating shaded area for a couple hundred feet.

Also, if I keep my windshield deflector on while turning on the ignition, the lights turn on when I press the start button...then they turn off when I remove the deflector.

I have not messed with (or investigated) the settings to see where my level is set.

Maybe you should have the dealership evaluate if your adjustments aren't working.

The sensor may need to be replaced.

A lot of people still have manual headlights and turn them on the second they enter.

Personally, I like the delay because I don't need to turn my headlights on in every single tunnel I enter. Especially the shorter ones. Otherwise they'd likely be flashing under every freeway overpass I went under.

Increasing your sensitivity is about the only thing that'll help. Otherwise you can always just manually turn them on.
