I asked salesman to get a quote from service tech after my build arrives, he said they won't do it. I'm sure they will after its in hands, but itll cost you.

Same here and finally after 10yrs I had to replace my first headlight bulb. The Auto DRL are nice but you also have to use some common sense when using them and remember that you might be able to see but can't be seen. I don't know how many times I run up on the back of a car in low vis situation without taillights on. One of which being my stubborn wife until I finally got it through her thick skull how it worked.

I asked the dealer. We went to the parts counter. The guy looked for a while and then referred me to Tackmaworld.

Honestly it's not a big deal. I flip the switch to drl during the day, and flip the headlights on at night. As others have mentioned, they shut off automatically when you lock the truck.

When I upgraded the stereo, I looked for the wiring under the passenger side tweeter. It is not there. To accomplish the upgrade, you'd have to install the sensor, wiring to the sun sensor, and replace the stalk. Personally, I don't think the juice would be worth the squeeze.

I think the headlights turn off because the truck has a drain monitor of some sort to prevent a dead battery. I have seen this when sitting in the truck in aux mode with the engine turned off. I have not tested if the lights go off and how long it takes in my DCOR but i think this is how it works. I am not a toyota tech so this is just my guess.

I don't think this has to be expensive. The sensors are on ebay and other sites for 20-100 and the lever is about the same. The biggest pain is trying to figure out what parts are compatible. Would the system from a camry work? There are also aftermarket solutions for about 50.

I doubt you're going to be able to retrofit it. I say this because there are lighting options on my entune premium radio that you also don't have

Wonder if there is a pigtail under the dash where the sensor goes... If so, may be that easy.

I'm almost certain they'd charge a ridiculous amount. I managed to find some parts from theToyota Parts Deal website (the automatic light control sensor and upgraded turn singal switch assembly) and it's nearly $300 for them. Not factoring in any wiring/labor this seems to be a dead end. http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/...ter=()&Location=switch-relay-computer,,89120A
    http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/...lter=()&Location=switch-relay-computer,,84310

I don't care for sunroofs but that's the only way to get automatic headlights, dual climate control and blind spot monitoring. I think going past a $36k price tag for these things that come standard in vehicles now is ridiculous and there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell I was paying 1 dollar more. All I wanted was the safety features. Screw the vanity BS (sunroof and dual climate control).

Thanks for putting that into words. Too many people on this site are so quick to voice their opinion about "pointless features". I thought that was part of the reason for a forum. I might just start posting on everyone's lift threads about how dumb I think it is.

So if you dont have auto on/off headlights (I have the basic ORD 4x4 DC) - I noticed when I got out the lights stayed ON...the entire time I was away from the truck.

After reading this thread, I think I know that since I didnt lock the doors - the headlights stayed ON.

So, do they shut off then ONCE you lock the doors?
With or without the remote or just remote?
