What's the rhyme or reason with when the doors auto lock?
When camping this weekend and when I'd go back to my car to get something after hours of last leaving it and not locking it, it's still unlocked. But then I drove somewhere and when I came back I locked it but realized I wanted to keep it unlocked so I unlocked it and walked away. 15 mins later I returned to my car and it was locked. When does it decide it wants to auto lock or not?

I think it depends if you open the door or not. If the truck his locked, you hit the keyless button to unlock it, then you never open the door and walk away, it will automatically lock itself within a short period of time. If you unlock it and open the door then it should never automatically lock itself again even if you close the door and walk away indefinitely. I guess it's designed to assume that if you unlocked it but never got in the truck, then it was an accident and you didn't actually mean to unlock it.

Thanks for this. Makes sense. I'll have to be more mindful. Guess it makes it so it won't auto lock with your keys inside too.

    No.
It will lock the keys inside.
There's no proximity sensor for the key fob.

It won't auto lock them inside though. It would be pretty much impossible to do that based on the sequence I described above. But yeah you could do it if you locked the doors with the button on the door and then closed the door with your keys still inside.

That would mean one would have to hit the lock button and never open the door while the keys were inside the vehicle according to the first response. So not sure you can auto lock the keys inside.

    LOL.
    True.
You can't lock the key inside, if you arm the vehicle from the outside. ;-)

You can auto lock if the keys are in the truck, but not in the ignition.

The system is designed to automatically re-lock the doors in case of an accidental unlock with the fob (e.g. pushed around inside a purse or pocket).
It should never automatically lock itself just by closing the (unlocked) doors. This does not apply to any proximity system, which my 2006 does not have.
