    Hey,

I am going to sound like a fool. But I was driving up the moderate hill to my house and waiting for a car to pull out. I pulled my foot jd the gas (auto) and the truck slowly rolled back a foot or two and made a terrible grinding noise… and the auto lsd light (car with squiggly lines behind it) came on and went off. Brand new truck, maybe this is normal when a truck rolls back in gear? In my opinion it shouldn’t have rolled back on the grade I was on.

Just curious because I was driving home from having new leaf springs installed and hope it didn’t trigger anything…

    thx

edit: what I mean is that I pulled my foot off the gas enough to have the truck stop on the grade and then slowly roll backward. Triggering the grind and warning light flash. But maybe it was doing its job?

The light that flashed was the traction control light. The noise was the ABS system trying to control the wheel spin. Odd that it activated just rolling backwards...

Should be completely unrelated to the leaf spring...

It was the ABS/TC system, and it is attempting to keep your truck from rolling backwards,,, totally normal.

Normal. The trucks have a feature to stop it from rolling backwards on a hill.

That’s the anti rollback feature us automatics have. Stop your truck on a steep hill, in drive let it roll back an inch or 2 and tap the gas. It will do that and hold you for about 5 seconds or so.
(just tagging you so you know of it’s existence for the other 17 trillion times it’s gonna be posted)

Thanks guys. This place is amazing. It was super unnerving when you expect the gear to hold you and you roll back and hear a loud grinding noise! Bizarre option.

Wasn't aware the AT had the hill holder feature... my 2017 Sport MT has it, but it activates by holding the applied service brake pressure ( hold function of the ABS ) .... not by applying the service brakes when rolling back through ABS actuation. Thanks for the knowledge :hattip:

    Oh do I know!
First time it did it on mine, I thought I blew the damn transmission, because for a split second it limits forward power. But since my Wrangler did it, I quickly remembered.

Thanks for that. Is this third gen's most useless feature? It's almost seems as useless as the remote start that kills the engine when you unlock the doors lol. Blah.
