Auto LSD randomly coming on.

Just bought a 2017 Tacoma Sport 4x4 2 weeks ago, only 9.5k miles on it. Only issue I have had so far was a small evaporation leak coming from the gas cap. Replaced it and light went away.

Driving today from breakfast and my "auto lsd" just randomly turned on. Stopped, turned the truck off and it went away. Never touched anything while driving, no wet conditions and only doing about 40mph.

Any reason why the light would turn on randomly then turn back off? Also, not a big vehicle enthusiast but don't mind working on my truck is necessary.

Yeah, light came on. Didn’t notice anything while driving. Just wondering why it could randomly turn on for no reason. Didn’t touch anything then went away when I turned the truck off.

 

Are you referring to the traction control light or to the AutoLSD light?

AutoLSD is a traction control mode that is enabled with a short push of the traction control button. When enabled the AutoLSD light is lit.

On the other hand the traction control light is lit whenever the traction control system is intervening (via brakes or throttle) regardless of mode.

 

Were you driving straight or turning?
Hard acceleration?
Driving on wet or icy pavement?
Coming out of a car wash?
Anything that might cause a tire to slip?
