    ok heres a quick explaination:

2wd- the truck has lsd off and VSC on. when you hit the VSC button once the lsd comes on VSC turns off. When you press and hold, LSD and VSC is off.

4hi- TRAC is activated. TRAC is the combination of LSD and VSC. Press and hold the VSC button for 3 seconds and TRAC is turned off.

4Lo- TRAC is off by default and can only be activated by the yellow wire mod

Thanks yoytoda - my vsc icons on cluster never light up, not even at start up. I thought might have been a problem.
Do u know if the offroads have a limited slip diff at all? that kind of sucks, really. i would use that much more than a locker - should have gone with the sport, i guess!

I dunno - i have factory window sticker that shows sr5 package and off road package installed including rear locking diff., but nothing about atrac.
I only have push buttons for rr locking diff , 110 volt/inverter, and fog lamps on the left hand panel by your knee. The owner manual reads like all of these things are standard equiptment, so I'm confused about what I actually have installed on Mr. Truck.

well a locker is much more capable than a lsd. Read your owners manual and get more familiar with the truck. All the info is here and in that manual

Thanks for your help - btw I found a brochure for 08, does not list atrac as any option untill 09. I dont think it was available in 08. just lock diff for offroad pack, or lsd for sport model package. I could just go to the dealer and ask, but I would rather look like a moron here than in person

I kinda figured the year was the reason. My 2010 has TRAC which is lsd front and rear. Works awesome...ATRAC is a better version of trac that is on 09-10TRD OR

Don't the 2010 TRD Sport's have an honest to goodness LSD in in the rear that is not controlled by the braking system, in which case you couldn't "turn it off" so to speak?

I kinda wish they hadn't called it "Auto LSD" It seems to cause a lot of confusion, especially since it has absolutely nothing to do with a limited slip differential. It's just similar behavior from a totally different technology.

no, even the sports went over to the electronic type for 09-10 IIRC.

Its not a bad thing though, it works better than the mechanical style IMO.

Ah, learn something new every day. The dealerships here TOTALLY misrepresented that when I was looking!
