While I understand what this is, I cannot understand just what it is supposed to do. We just got our first sizable snow since I bought my 09 Tacoma SR5 PreRunner 2 w d. I backed it out of the garage and then tried to go forward. The auto LSD icon came on just as it is supposed to. When I tried to pull back into the garage, neither tire would turn, the engine would not rev. Is this standard? What is the advantage of auto LSD if it will not help in a situation like this?

It's a traction aid. Uses the ABS to stop a wheel that's spinning so power goes to the other wheel with traction. If you're stuck, give it a shot.
