As you can tell, I am a brand new Tacoma 4x4 owner and don't know half of what I should. I will probably never run the 4 WD, so should I be running in the Auto LSD mode or the ATC mode?

Auto LSD is an aftermarket feature that will lower a robotic arm with blotter paper from the sun visor and apply to your tongue for you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say MOST people with 4x4s are not doing 10 miles per month in their vehicles and we don't have 4x4s breaking down all over because of it. It's a nice suggestion but it isn't a requirement to keep the vehicle operating.

Sorry but it's better for the vehicle if you do, fwiw - that is a legitimate piece of information for anyone new to 4wd, take it or leave it

It's also better for the vehicle to park in the garage. ( as opposed to on the street)

I didn't know the SR had auto LSD?

Long story short, leave it in normal mode unless you get stuck. This leaves traction control on which will cut throttle as wheel slip occurs or if it senses the truck start to drift.
Push it once if you are stuck or going slow and in danger of getting stuck. This will engage auto LSD and reduce traction control so that you can spin the wheels a bit more if needed to power out.
Push and hold it for many seconds to turn everything off if you want no intervention....like when the urge to do donuts hits.

I believe this is how it works. Honestly, I've never had the need. When it gets slippery and normal mode isn't working, I flip on 4-Hi and that's been sufficient.
