All correct, as far as I can tell since I've done it. If you want to disable the AC from coming on with defrost mode, that's a different mod. (Which I haven't done, and don't plan on doing. I don't mind that function)

Thanks for the reply. This is exactly how I want the AC to function!

Did this mod today in about 15 minutes.

Not usually hot enough here that I run AC and I never run the recirculated air mode so this was an awesome mod for me. I can now turn it to max cold temp without it kicking automatically into AC or Max AC.

Man I absolutley hate the max AC "feature", but I can only cringe at cutting any wires in my truck, especially the HVAC. Electrical problems are the worst and my AC in New Orleans is crucial. Still I want to do this. If, for some reason you ever wanted to go back to stock (or break it), is the other end of this wire harness easily accessible so it could just be swapped?

Its so easy to undo. cut about 1.5 inches back from the connector when you do the mod and you will have lots of wire to work with. I just left the brown wire in the slot so if I ever want to rejoin them I just remove the butt connector and throw 2 butt connectors on. One rejoining each wire.

I just used butt connectors. Made them nice and tight, then taped the hell out of the wires and there is no way that's coming loose until I want it to.

Also, I didn't even remove the glove box. Nothing is obstructed at all. It's very easily accessible and you can't miss it.

It works like a charm. Worst feature ever, this auto max AC nonsense.

Any reason not to just cut the brown wire and use a quick splice into the pink wire?

Great mod, definitely worth the time! It took me an hour from when I started to end of cleanup but the actual work was probably 15 mins. I just cut the brown wire about an inch above the connector, stripped it, and used a knife to shave off the insulation on a small section of the pink wire. Then I wrapped the brown one around it, soldered it, taped it, and was good to go.

What gauge wire is it for using a quick splice?

What does this mod do to the blower speed?

Those of us who use AC a lot appreciate the higher blower rate that comes with 'max', which is higher that the manual blower control.

And of course recirc is the best AC setting for keeping the cab the coldest possible.

Like you, I don't like how it works now though, because in winter I too like outside air via vents, so would consider this mod.

So just asking about other effects.

    Thanks!

This mod does nothing to blower speed, as the blower doesn't go any faster on Max A.C. than any other setting. It only sounds different because it switches to recirculating.

    Thanks just completed this mod!

This mod makes it so when you turn the temperature dial all the way to max cold it will not automatically engage the a/c and recirc. You can still manually engage the a/c and recirc by pushing their respective buttons.
