I want to take my kids to the local drive in (yes we still have one of them) but the accessories have an auto off function that shuts off the radio after 20 minutes if the engine isnt turned on. Does anyone know how to shut this off or a possible work around.

That's actually a nice feature, but I also wouldn't mind knowing how to disable it, for similar situations.

I believe that if you turn the truck off before you put it in park that it will run longer then 20 minutes. try it out. I don't feel like it.

IF you leave it in neutral and just set the parking brake so you don't roll the acc. will stay on until you run the battery out I believe.

I have a drive-in near me. I bring an old school portable radio to tune in so i don't have to deal with getting a jump after :notsure:

Why do you need the radio on at a drive in? Don't they have the little speaker boxes on the pole that you hang inside your car window anymore?

If they use your radio as the sound system, isn't that discriminating against those with no radio? Or a broken radio? :anonymous:

Both the drive-ins in MA (that i know of) don't have the speaker boxes anymore. they broadcast the audio over low frequency FM or AM channels

When I hit the drive in...years ago in high school, I borrowed my dads truck. I didn't want to kill the battery, so I took a radio. I'm paranoid like that...2 hours with the car off and the radio on scares me lol (or longer, because the one out here shows double features).

Yeah they still have the poles where the speakers used to be but now everyone uses the radio. They might have portable ones to rent though.

Yes, they had to resort to this because too many people stole the speakers and the maintenance of the ones which were left behind. Why anyone would want one is beyond me but there you have it.
